There's something we always ask.
Because it's something the bible tells us and it's something the reality of life shows us. History shows it to us and the news as well. The people around us which are dear to our hearts show us. And the strangers in the world and nameless people in newspaper articles show us.
There's something fundamentally going wrong in our world. There's something wrong with humans.
Yes, there's even something wrong with ourselves. Even if that's something we like to close our eyes to. But we see it when other people hurt because of us.

So naturally we ask and ask and ask. Why is there so much suffering in the world? Why are humans capable of doing such terrible things?
We ask it in our minds, in our hearts. We ask it without words. We ask it continually while watching the news or hearing about something that has happened in the world. We ask it when we are hurt, when we suffer, when we are treated unfairly.
We ask our friends, our family.
We ask strangers and people we look up to and pastors or people who are there to support us.
We ask it out loud when no one is there but we've seen a frightening message on our phones.
We speak the question into the air, hoping that somebody might hear us.
We ask God.
We ask out loud.
We shout it.
We ask crowds of people and people who are seemingly in charge and politicians and governments.
We ask criminals and prisoners.
We ask our partners who have hurt us and people who break up with us.
We ask fathers and mothers and parents and sons and daughters and children and sisters and brothers and siblings.
We whisper it, we think it, we say it, we cry it out loud, we shout it, we demand it, we plea for it, we wish.

Of course we are asking these questions.
We see people in pain. We experience pain. We see that so many things do not work out in a positive way even after hoping and praying and doing what we can. We see people starving and drowning and dying. We see people being abused and hurt and beaten and left alone. We see injustice in this world, death, famine, disease, war, catastrophes, and on and on.
But mostly we see the bad message. The bad message that there is something wrong with humanity.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV )

Because there is a good message. There are good news as well.
I close my eyes to it sometimes as well and I can't believe it sometimes and I struggle a lot with it.
But number 1 says there is something wrong.
And number 2 says we have a chance of overcoming it.
The good message is that after we realized that something inside of us creates bad things, we can choose something different.

This is the gospel. That's everything Jesus was talking about.
What we're having on earth at the moment is hell. Our egos create a terrible world that hurts and kills people. But if we overcome them we can create a loving and caring world. That is what heaven is all about. That is what God says, He Is love. He is ultimate love. And if we are in Him, we create fruits that are changing our world.

If you focus on the bad things happening only, but don't recognize the part you play, then you don't help at all. What you see as wars, is also happening in your friendship. There's not much difference between your ego fighting with your friend or relative or partner and the fight we see in our governments that lead to war and other deathly decisions. The lack of compassion that leads to you ignoring the need of another person is the same that brings the neglect of minorities in our communities.

But through letting go of the world and making Jesus your master you are created anew. And we see that the seeds Jesus planted are growing into wonderful flowering fruits of awakening and consciousness. The fruits of the Spirit that is leading our lives are love, peace, patience, faithfulness, loyalty, gentleness, goodness, and so on. We cannot create a better world by trying to be better humans. We don't have the power to make the world better through our rational mind or our view on morality. The root is poisoned, so everything we try to produce will be poisoned as well. If we do it out of our own strength.

"Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit." (Galatians 6:8 NLT )

But Jesus gives us another kind of power. God gives us another kind of love, a purer kind of love.
Through being followers of Jesus we are becoming born again in the spirit, our spirits are newly created and we get a power that leads us onto the right path. And this is the Holy Spirit.
I don't see anything else that could heal our world, that could reform humanity. Spirituality leads to heaven. To eternal life.
And it makes humans grow together, love each other deeply and be kind to one another.
Which world would you rather live in?
