1.Choose the right fragrance

First, I will tell you a few things about the different fragrances you can use. The duration and strength of a scent depends on what kind of perfume you use. Normally, perfume will last for 3 years if you take good care for it! Side note: Always test a perfume directly on your skin, because it smells different on paper. Okay, let’s dive in. First you have the classic perfume, this is the one with the highest concentration and can last from 6-8 hours. Because of this, it’s a little more expensive than the other fragrances. Then you have the more diluted and cheaper eau de parfum that will last from 3-4 hours while the very light scent eau de toilette will only last for 2 hours. Last, there’s the popular aroma for men, the cologne that will last no longer than an hour. I will tell you a few tips and tricks about keeping that lovely scent throughout the day!

2.Know where to spray!

The place you decide to spray the perfume is decisive for the duration of the scent! It’s important to apply the aroma to pulse-points because that makes it diffuse better. If you’re like me and you are hearing this for the first time than GIRL. This. Is. A. Game. Changer. Because the veins are closer to the skin on these points, they”ll warm the fragrance! Long story short, you have to apply the perfume on thin skin like below the ears, side of the neck and ankles, back of your knee, inside elbow and of course your wrists! For an optimal result you can spray a little odor on your brush and your hair will always release small amounts of your perfume. Never spray perfume directly onto your hair, the high amount of alcohol will make your hair very dry.

3.Don’t rub it!

Guilty. Yep, that’s me. Applying my new perfume and rubbing my wrists enthusiastically against each other, not knowing that I’m destroying the scent completely. Friction heats the skin slightly, causing a release of natural enzymes that alter the scent. Especially the top and middle notes will disappear faster. There are top, heart, and base notes. When you’ve just applied the perfume you will smell the top notes. After a while you’ll smell the important notes in the heart of the fragrance end last the scent of the base notes that will evaporate slowly. So the best thing you can do to keep the notes intact is to just spray a little aroma on your skin and let it dry naturally.

4.Moisturize your skin

A little tip my grandmother in Greece gave to me: Never apply perfume on a dry skin, always apply some vaseline first and then spray some scent on it. Body lotion on your skin before spraying on the perfume will also do the magic trick! If you spray it on a dry skin, the odor will disappear very fast. Personally, I like to spray some aroma on a cotton bud and take this with me when I go away. This way, I don’t have to take the whole bottle with me and I can still refresh my scent!

5.Store it correctly!

Again. GUILTY. I used to store all of my fragrances in my bathroom just because I like to spray some new perfume after I’ve been showering and it’s just easy to grab it if it’s in front of me. After a little research I found out that scent has actually two enemies. Heat and UV light. A bathroom where the temperature fluctuates fast is a fragrance’s worst enemy. Eventually this will affect the way your perfume smells. Same story for all the fragrances that are exposed to the light that shines through the window. How wonderful it may look as the sun shines through the bottles, it is completely destroying the scent. The most ideal place to keep your fragrance is in the original box you bought it! Or on a shelf far away from the radiator and UV light.

Honestly, these tips really did the trick for me! Let me know how it worked out for you in the comments below!
