Heya, people. Today I'll be talking about five reasons as to why you should read books. Be it a romantic novel, a mystery or an action packed book, a book is a book. So, without further ado, let's start with these reasons!

You've probably heard this a million times. Well, hon, I'm here to tell you that it couldn't be more true. We've all been scolded at some point in our academic lives as to not use the words “very” and “nice” in our essays. Haven't you ever felt the urge to bring new words in your essays? To impress your stubborn English teacher? To finally change that asshole of a C- into a B or an A? Well, in order for that to happen, you need to start reading books. Pronto.

This is probably one of the most important reasons to start reading books. Reading books helps you to express yourself and your feelings better. I remember how I got sick of using the words “pretty” and “confusing” and after I started reading books, I changed them into “exquisite” and “perplexing”. You see what I did there? I read books and changed those boring words into much sophisticated ones. Although I leave the sophistication for assignments and such, I don't mind flaunting my vocabulary once in a while.

Another significant reason to start reading books is an imaginative mind. Admit it, we all lack creativity and imagination. That's because of the amount of time we spend with our noses in a screen. We've all experienced this: “Today is going to be the most productive day of my entire damn life.” -Takes a piece of paper and a pen and sits there all day in utter anguish- Tell me you relate to this. Well, there are so many ways to solve this old problem and you can start that by reading books. You'll be zipping up sinister plots for your crime stories in no time.

Oh baby, you NEED your grammar to be tip top for assignments/projects/exams. You really don't want to expect yourself to magically know where the apostrophe will come or where the comma will come. Or where in God's name you have to put the inverted commas. But fear not, when you start reading books (hopefully), your grammar will improve automatically. That's the thing about reading books. It's like studying without knowing it and, trust me, you can't be given anything more pleasant. Who wants to listen to boring old teachers going on about grammar when you can just whip up a romantic paperback and start reading? Nobody, that's who.

Having a solid paperback in your hands is way, way better than switching your phone on and then finding the Wattpad app and then wishing for a better internet connection so you can start reading that book you've been obsessing about all day long. And right now, I can HEAR you thinking, “But, Bee, phones are more portable than stupid old paperbacks.” But to be honest, straining your eyes trying to figure out what the hell that tiny word is in the corner of the screen is hell. Plus you won't be “damaging your brain” by “rays” and all that baloney that scientists get so worked up about. Like, chill dude. Go get a soda and a tan.
