“I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.”
― Charles Dickens
1. The Decorations
Everything is so colorful and jolly. All the stores have bright lights and sparkly decorations. Homes have Christmas trees glistening through the window with bright lights and snowflakes and ice sickles coming from the rooftop.

2. Hot Chocolate
I am the type of person who does not like eggnog but I love some hot coco. Add milk and some little marshmallows make it incredible. Put it in a cute little Christmas mug makes it even better.

3. Snow
In Romania, it snows so bad during winter. I love playing in the snow, making forts, and building snowmen. I love watching dogs play in the snow. It is so beautiful and breathtaking.

4. Christmas movies
I enjoy wrapping up on the couch with tons of blankets and watching a good Christmas movie. My favorite is Home Alone and the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. Those always put me in the mood.

5. Presents
There is something about putting together a gift. Wrapping it up and putting a pretty bow on top is so pleasing. Then to put it under the tree makes it even more beautiful.

6. Spending time with family & friends
Nothing honestly beats spending quality time with your family and friends. The conversations are always funny and entertaining. You create more memories as you reminisce on the old ones. Laughter is in the air and so is a good time.

7. The food
This is when the best food is cooked. You get to fill up and eat more than you ever had. You get to have a wonderful home-cooked meal and gather around the table with friends and family. This is also the time when there are so many desserts that are oh so yummy.

8. The Christmas Tree
Finding the perfect Christmas tree is the best. You search long and hard and maybe even chop your own one down. Then you get to put it up and the whole house smells of the tree. You get to decorate the tree and watch it come alive. This is when the magic comes alive.

9. The Christmas spirit
Around Christmas time people are happier, kinder, more helpful and more loving. This is what Christmas is all about. It's not about the presents or money; it's about being a better, more kinder person. Unfortunately our society is obsessed with taking any holiday they can and making all about commercialism and materialism. Christmas gets most of the blunt and so many people forget that the point of this holiday is kindness, not presents. And while people should always be kind and helpful to each other, it's nice that at least people try to be good once a year. Also, as part of the Christmas spirit radio stations start playing Christmas music and there are Christmas movies on television so that's nice too.

10. Santa Claus
Even though I am a teenager, I always act like I am waiting for Santa to bring the presents on Christmas Eve, just to feel like I am a five year old again.

11. New Year's Eve
There’s something reassuring about distilling an entire year’s worth of goals into one simple, glib statement, like “Achieve Balance,” or “Become a Better Person.” And yet the very glib simplicity of the New Year’s resolution is a mockery, because as simple as they sound, resolutions are destined to fail. We all know this, yet we continue to make them every year. The best we can hope for is that we don’t get so drunk we make them publicly, and then have to explain at next year’s New Year’s Eve party why we’re still unbalanced and a terrible person.
So there you have it. The fireworks and the champagne, the hug and the kiss, and the drunk and the fattening, the New Year’s holiday is a confusing mix of them all, a quivering miasma of the good mixed with the bad. Pretty much like every other day of the year.
