It has been a long time since I've written anything on Weheartit. My former articles has been workout guides, and articles about how to achieve the ultimate goals like the perfect body etc.

My new year resolutions have always been about getting the perfect body, having the perfect routine, looking like the pictures we see everyday on social media. However, this year - they're quite different.

Times have changed

Lately, I've seen so many videos, tiktoks, and posts about "becoming that girl". But times have changed. I am tired of trying to do something because it's trending. Honestly, I don't want to anymore. So, my resolution for 2022 is not to become "that girl" because it shouldn't be a trend to feel the pressure of being perfect.

The pressure is high enough without social media.

During covid I think many of us had the time to actually take a break form the social pressure that we feel everyday. It's all around us. Doing well at school, being social enough, working out, to have an exciting job.

For 2022 I want people to stop trying to become something they're not. I want people to be the persons that they really want to be. Not because it is trending, but because it's something they desire. If you're a person who naturally needs to sleep until 8 am or 10 am in the morning, stop trying to wake up at 5 am just because social media is telling you to. If you're the person who likes a quiet Friday night, stay home. Watch a movie, or hang out with your friends. Not because you feel the pressure of having to be social, but because you really want to. Listen to your body. Take a break. You don't have to have everyday of your life organised in colours, in a book so you don't forget to do something you don't really wish doing.

The only thing that matters is your own wellbeing and mental health

If you're into healthy eating and working out, do it. But take it slow, and don't punish yourself for skipping a day or two. Because it won't matter in a year. The only thing that matters is your own wellbeing and mental health. If you're stressed out about not having enough hours in a day to make up for all the things you feel like you need to do, stop.

We are so caught up in the prestige life of influences, when in reality they're just a tiny percentage of what reality really looks like. Most people cannot wakeup at 5am just because they feel like it. Most people cannot juggle a 8 hour job, university, working out, social life and taking care of themselves at the same time. Because in reality, you need to catch a break. And we don't have the luxury of waking up to an exciting influencer job where you earn 10 000 dollars on taking a picture and posting it to instagram.

So for 2022. I'm going to change this. I will focus on the things that truly matters to me. And you should do the same. And if being "that girl", the perfect body or the perfect GPA is truly something you desire, do it because you want to. Not because you need to. You don't need to do anything for anyone but yourself. Your happiness is the only thing that matters in the end. And living the lifestyle of someone else won't make you happy longterm.

Happy 2022!
