How to Live in the Moment

I don't blame her because this is something that we all almost do, all the time. It has become something so normal, that we don't even realize it.

One of my first tips is to enjoy time with your friends and family.

Listen to them, talk, build those relationships, and don't let other things interfere in that beautiful moment, which leads me to my next tip.

Get breaks or your phone

One of the hardest things to do. Your phone gives you the permission to do and access whatever you want and is also a distraction. It gives others the right to contact you at any time, and while others may like that, not everyone is comfortable with the power that a piece of technology has over us. Some hard yet possible tips are :

  • Your phone can stay in your bag or even upside down during dinner
  • Use Do not Disturb
  • Get off social media every now and then
  • Block the social media notifications

The next thing that helps me stay present is journaling and doing a gratitude list every day.

What I do is that I have a notebook for journaling every night. Getting my thoughts on paper helps me focus on what is happening right now, not yesterday, not tomorrow.

For the gratitude list, you don't have to write 20 things every day. What I try to do is write 1 thing that I'm grateful for every day, and then 5 reasons why. Here is an example.

I am grateful for my body

  • I am healthy
  • I can move
  • I can walk
  • I can digest food
  • I can workout
