I started bullet journaling this summer and I wish I had done this my whole life. Bullet journaling is like making statistics of your life in a creative way.

Tracking your mood, your habits, sleeping hours, and more will make you be more aware of the things you need to work on and will make you understand a lot more about yourself.

What you gotta do to start? First, you buy a bullet notebook which is the notebook with lots of dots on each page. Then you do all this stuff!

Do a cover page

Just to warm up your brain and hands. Mine has two cover pages: the first one has my full name on it and the second one specifies that this is from 2021. All decorated with images of highlighter colored bubbles.

I fully recommend that you use highlighters for the bullet journal and that you use the same ones throughout the whole year, just to make it look cool.

Do a calendar overview

The first thing you have to do is a calendar. Use two pages to put the whole year in a calendar like the ones below.

Year in pixels

Before going into each month, a bullet journal MUST is this pixel table. This will be a graphic of how were your days during the year. They could be: GREAT, Good, Normal, Bad, AWFUL.

You do twelves columns and assign each column a month like: J-F-M-A-M-J-J-A-S-O-N-D. Then you do 31 rows in the columns. You will end up with a little more of 365 tiny squares, each one for a day of the year.

Assign a color of your highlighter to each mood and fill the square of each day the color it went. When you end up a few months you will start to see which color does you year is most filled of and could do something about it.

Month cover page

The year starts with January, but you can start whenever is that you started your bullet journal. Do a cover page for each months and use a theme for each one. You will use the theme for the whole month, so choose wisely.

As you can imagine, a simple calendar for you to write your plans!

Habit tracker

Habit tracker! There are so many ideas for you to track your habits. My favorite is writing each habit you want to work on right on top of a small "calendar" of that month and highlight every day you did the habit. You can write down up to six habits with its calendar per page.

Habits could include: if you did your workout, did skincare, practiced your musical instrument, prayed, had your vitamins, or whatever you want to track.

Mood tracker

I didn't add the mood tracker to my personal bullet journal, but it is a great idea for yours. I think this is the page where you could get the more creative with. Assign a color to each mood and paint each day with the color/mood you felt more related with.

Sleep tracker

This is the perfect way you can track your sleeping hours. Make sure you get your eight hours every night!

The best way to do this is to write the days of the month vertically on one side of the page and the hours of the day on the side of each number/day. I wrote from 8:00pm to 11:00am as my normal sleeping schedule usually does not go any further from that hours. Once I wake up every day, I see the hour and go highlight all the hours I slept. For example, from 10:00pm to 7:00am.

Add quotes

Just to inspire yourself. Add your favorite quotes, the ones you always use to fueled up, and decorate the page as you please. While bullet journaling you don't have to draw everything, of course, you can also use stickers or add some cuts from your favorite magazines.

Track everything you want!

I track hours on the phone and steps every day, but of course you could track anything you want. I do this the same way I sleep track, but instead of writing from 8:00pm to 11:00am, I write from 1hr to 6hrs for hours in the phone and 1,000 to 6,000 or more for steps.

You can track your weight in case you are working on losing or gaining weight, you can track money saving, likes on Instagram, etc.

You can also add monthly goals, achievements, playlists, books to read, etc. However, personally I would recommend not to add so many stuff as you may get overwhelmed with all that and will took a lot of time filling all the information every morning. Remember you will do one for each month.
