Hello everyone! Today I've got a fun article for you. Recently I started getting interested in fashion and I decided to write an article about designer brands. Note that this is not an extensive list and way more designer fashion brands are out there. I just wanted to assemble a list of the most well-known ones.

shoes, Balenciaga, and sneakers image
My honest thoughts: Personally their designs are not something I would buy. I don't think their clothes give off the classy vibes I like nor am I a fan of their chunky shoes.

Balenciaga was founded all the way back in 1917 by Cristoal Balenciaga who revolutionized women's fashion with his creative, feminine, yet modern skirts and dresses. Today their sneakers are very trendy.

My Favorite Product: the Hourglass handbag

aesthetic, Burberry, and style image
My honest thoughts: I love Burberry! Their designs are really chic looking- not ugly or flashy, but classy and dignified. I love their purses and their check print.

Burberry is one of the oldest luxury brands out there, founded in 1856 (!!!) by Thomas Burberry, with a focus on outdoor attire. Since then it has shifted to products using gabardine, a certain fabric Thomas created that is exclusively made for the brand.

My Favorite Product: "HER" Eau de Parfum

cartier and fashion image
My honest thoughts: I don't have much to say about Cartier because I've never been a jewelry person but if I ever get married and I have the money...I don't know, a Cartier ring would be nice.

Cartier is a jewelry and watch company that is even older than Burberry- founded in 1847. They are well known for making jewelry for royalty.

black, celine, and like image
My honest thoughts: I love their designs, aesthetic, and their simple and "normal" approach to fashion. That being said, they are super expensive and I would probably never get anything from them.

Celine Vipiana and her husband founded this brand in 1945 as a children's shoe business. From there they went on to make women's clothing with a sportswear appeal, as well as leather goods.

My favorite product: Vertical Cabas Bag

aesthetic, bag, and fashion image
My honest thoughts: Yes, I admit, Chanel is my favorite fashion brand. They were the brand that first got me interested in fashion and changed my perspective on designer clothing.

Does Chanel really need an intro, honestly? I think we all know this brand but in case you don't, Chanel is a women's fashion house known for its elegant clothing, simple design, and comfortable, flattering clothes. Coco Chanel founded Chanel in 1910.

beauty, chanel, and eau de parfum image
My favorite product: Chanel N°5, arguably the most famous perfume ever.

bag, brand, and brown image
My honest thoughts: Chloe today meets the standards its founder set back in the 50s. I love the brand's soft, ballerina-like approach. It's very feminine which strongly appeals to me.

The three C's of fashion- Celine, Chanel, and Chloe! Chloe, like Chanel and Celine, is another brand I really love. Chloe was founded in 1952 by Gaby Aghion. The brand originally focused on rejecting "stiff" fashion with a focus on soft, feminine, body conscious clothing.

My favorite product: Chloe Eau de Parfum

dior, girl, and fashion image
My honest thoughts: I love Dior! At first I wasn't too crazy for their designs but after learning about its founder, history, and looking at more of the products, I became obsessed. Easily my second favorite fashion brand.

Dior was founded by Christian Dior in 1946, Dior is a brand that is well known for its designs, which are directed towards women. Dior's famous "New Look" and female silhouetted designs became extremely influential and redefined fashion.

Dolce & Gabbana

My honest thoughts: D&G is not for me. Some people might like their bright, colorful, flashy clothing, but personally, I don't. I think most of their products are over the top.

Dolce & Gabbana was actually founded not too long ago, in 1985, by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (hence the name). Their designs are colorful and printed. Their style is called the "haute hippy dom" thrift shop bohemian design.

bag, fashion, and fendi image
My honest thoughts: Fendi has some nice stuff, but it's one of the more expensive brands on this list, with handbags usually costing 3,000 dollars or more. With that being said, they have some dresses I love.

Fendi (not to be confused with Fenty, a brand created by Rihanna), was founded in 1925 in Rome. They are known for their fur and leather products especially. Their "baguette" bag is their most famous product.

My favorite product: Couldn't find a picture of it, but I love their white viscose dress!

Givenchy, shoes, and heels image
My honest thoughts: I like Givenchy a lot, though again, it's not my favorite brand. Their clothes are simple which makes them pleasing to look at- aside from some of their pumps, which, in my opinion, are really weird.

Hubert De Givenchy founded the house of Givenchy in 1952 with a focus on chic and casual dresses, skirts, and blouses, as well as ready-to-wear luxury clothing. They are notably the designers behind film icon Audrey Hepburn's closet and many of Meghan Markle's outfits.

gucci, fashion, and bag image
My honest thoughts: Before I learned about Gucci, I thought they were tacky and too mainstream, just a status symbol. However, they actually have some beautiful accessories, especially their purses, scarves, and dresses. I like them a lot!

Like Chanel, Gucci doesn't really need an intro. Guccio Gucci created this brand in 1921 with a focus on handbags and accessories. A family feud over the control of the brand led to Gucci's grandson, Maurizio, being shot and killed by a hitman hired by his wife! Eventually the Gucci family was expelled from their own company. Since then the brand has become a "geek chic" brand that is trendy in popular culture.

My favorite products: Fine wool cotton polo dress, Marmont bag, and GG tote bags.

accessories, classy, and aesthetic image
My honest thoughts: Hermes products range from extremely expensive (one of their bags sold for 3.4 million dollars) to more "affordable" for a luxury brand, like some of their shirts and swimwear. That being said, I've never been attracted to this brand.

Hermés is the oldest brand so far on this list, founded in 1837. They specialize in leather goods, watches, jewelry, and lifestyle accessories. Their logo is of a horse and carriage, since the brand's founder originally made harnesses and bridles for carriages, and bags for riders. Its most famous product is the "Birkin" bag.

blogger, levis, and look image
My honest thoughts: I really like this brand! They are much more affordable than almost all the other brands on this list and their simple purses are cute, small, and pretty reasonably priced. I definitely would buy something from them.

Yay, we finally made it to one of my favorites! I love Jacquemus, the most recent brand on this list- founded in 2009 when its founded, Simon Porte Jacquemus, was only 20 years old. Its brand is known for its simple yet original products, which have very few details. You've probably seen the brand's trademark small purses.

My favorite product: Le Grand Chiquito, White

Jimmy Choo

fashion, heels, and Jimmy Choo image
My honest thoughts: I love Jimmy Choo shoes! Their pumps in particular are gorgeous. Many of them are simple and more affordable than shoes from other luxury brands.

Princess Diana's favorite brand was Jimmy Choo, founded by Malaysian Chinese shoe designer Jimmy Choo and Tamara Mellon. The brand specializes in luxury shoes. The shoe range from as low as $250 to over $2,000 dollars.

My favorite products: Love 100 Pumps and Aurelie 85 Pumps

Kate Spade New York

bag, designer, and kate spade image
My honest thoughts: It's hard to dislike Kate Spade because their purses are so...timeless! Not only are they one of the most affordable brands here, the brand has a purse for everyone's taste.

Kate Spade is another brand here that probably doesn't need much of an intro. Kate and her husband, Andy, founded it in 1993 with her iconic square bag and its small label. Unlike some other luxury brands, it is targeted at the upper middle class, not the super-rich. Sadly, Kate committed suicide in 2018, but her legacy lives on in her work.

shoes, fashion, and black image
My honest thoughts: Like Kate Spade, it's hard to dislike Louboutin because their shoes are timeless and beautiful. I would love to own a pair one day.

Christian Louboutin created the iconic shiny red-bottomed stiletto with an intention to break rules, make a woman's legs look longer, and help her feel beautiful and confident. Louboutin actually brought stilettos back into fashion. The shoes sell from about $500 to as much as $6,000.

My favorite product: Kate 100 or 85 M in black or tan

Louis Vuitton

dior, goals, and Louis Vuitton image
My honest thoughts: If you thought Gucci was common, LV is arguably more popular and widespread. For these reasons, I'm not a big fan. I think some of their products are nice, however.

We made it to Louis Vuitton! This is the most popular luxury brand out there, founded in 1845 by....Louis Vuitton. It is mainly known for its accessories, especially its leather purses and bags. Considered the world's most valuable luxury brand, the brand continue to make the iconic luggage it started designing in the 1840s and 50s.

My favorite product: Capucines BB in pebble/black, Nice BB Vanity Case

chic, fashion, and Moschino image
My honest thoughts: Didn't think I would like Moschino after reading about their style but a look at their products changed my mind. Their stuff stands out, but it looks like something I could actually wear. Their bear logo is so cute! On top of that, a lot of their stuff isn't too expensive compared with many other brands.

Another more recent brand is Moschino which was founded in 1983 by Franco Moschino. They specialize in leather accessories, shoes, luggage, and fragrance. The label is famous for eccentric, colorful, innovative designs, especially Moschino's love of fairies

content, fashion, and ideas image
My honest thoughts: Prada bags are some of the best in the world and their simple design makes them appealing to me. Aside from their bags, I don't think this brand offers as much as other luxury brands, which I why they aren't one of my favorites.

Mario Prada founded this legendary brand back in 1913. It specializes in leather handbags (which is why their purses are so famous). Mario did not support women in business, yet his daughter Luisa succeeded the company and so did her daughter, Miuccia Prada (who founded Prada subsidiary brand Miu Miu). The brand is known for its signature sleek lines, practicality, and basic colors. In fact, the brand tried to market itself as not prestigious, calling itself "anti-status" and "inverse snobbery".

My favorite product: Cloe brushed leather bag

Ralph Lauren

blogger, fashion, and look image
My honest thoughts: I like Ralph Lauren a lot! It's much more affordable than the vast majority of luxury brands. Their clothes are usually of the everyday style which makes them appealing. I absolutely love their dresses.

Ralph Lauren founded his brand in 1967. Unlike most of the other brands here, Ralph Lauren doesn't sell exclusively luxury products. They also aren't limited to fashion- they also sell home items. They sell a variety of products, from sportswear to luxury watches to evening dresses to perfume.

Salvatore Ferragamo

Temporarily removed
My honest thoughts: I like their knitwear and some of their bags. However, in comparison with the other two biggest luxury shoes brands, Louboutin and Jimmy Choo, I honestly think Salvatore pales in comparison. I would rather get nice shoes from Louboutin or Jimmy Choo than Salvatore.

Salvatore Ferragamo founded a shoe shop 1927 in Florence Italy. After his death, his wife, Wanda, expanded the company to produce more than just shoes- eyewear, perfume, and more. The Ferragamo family still runs the company, but only three family members can work at the company at a time, making it very competitive among them. They have made extremely innovative shoes for many celebrities and even politicians.

Tiffany & Co.

fashion, jewelry, and jewels image
My honest thoughts: Similar to Cartier, this isn't a brand I would ever get something from unless I was getting married or my partner wanted to gift me their jewelry.

Tiffany & Co. sells jewelry and other goods like silverware, watches, china, and crystal. Charles Lewis Tiffany founded the company in 1837, making it one of the older brands in this guide. They even supplied the Union Army with supplies in the Civil War. They are best known for their diamonds and sterling jewelry. Notably, the store is featured in Audrey Hepburn's famous film, Breakfast at Tiffany's.

aesthetic, bag, and designer image
My honest thoughts: Their clothes are truly beautiful. Their dresses, jackets, and coats, blow me away. That being said, don't I find them as impressive as many of the other brands on this list.

Valentino Garavani established this fashion house in 1960. The brand rose to popularity with its wedding dresses and fragrances and has since made a variety of products.

fashion, look, and luxury image
My honest thoughts: Versace isn't for me. I'm not a fan of their signature symbol, Medusa, nor do I care for their bright flashy patterns. Even their simpler purses and shoes don't suit my tastes.

Surprisingly, Versace is not very old. It was founded only in 1978 by Gianni Versace, whose sister, Donatella Versace, still heads its creative design and has designed many famous outfits, included J.Lo's jungle dress. Sadly, Gianni was murdered in 1997, but his family continues to work at Versace.

Yves Saint Laurent

bag, fashion, and luxury image
My honest opinion: I really love their pumps which are (in my opinion) absolutely gorgeous. I also adore their handbags. I'm not as big a fan of their clothes but their bags and shoes are amazing.

Last but not least is Yves Saint Laurent, founded by the designer of the same name in 1961. Laurent's idea was to inspire women to be confident by looking elegant and comfortable simultaneously. He also introduced the "Le Smoking" tuxedo suit. He was the pupil of Christian Dior who left the Dior fashion house to Laurent after his death.
