Hello lovelies, I've been writing a novel of sorts and I actually really like it so if you like the excerpt below at all, please check out the full story.

Thank you :) Anyway, on with the story.

this is not a love story a novel by jordan humphrey

If you’re reading this, then I’m probably dead.

I mean, that is the only reason I can imagine anyone would want to read the thoughts of an eighteen year old girl that they’ve never met. Isn’t that how it usually goes?

         “How could this have happened?”

        “What was she thinking?”

“If only she told someone about how she was feeling.”

        Blah. Blah. Blah.

The truth is nothing I could say about love and life and death could ever be so important to talk about, at least not enough for anyone to care, but alas here I am pretending someone actually gives a shit about my mediocre existence (then again, you’re the one reading this so I guess we’re both in over our heads).

I guess that’s the issue though. Everyone seems to think we’re all very important. Take the kids in my class for example. Most of them go to class so they can post on their snapchat stories about how “boring Mrs. Andrew’s voice is,” on the slight chance that someone will reply and validate their shitty opinion. The sad part is, I’m no different than them. Everyday I wake up and my need for “oohs” and “ahhs” from my peers begin, and at the end of the day when people aren’t kissing my ass like I expect them to, I write existential journal entries like this complaining about the exact thing I’m guilty of.

Which brings me back to you. I’m sure there are an endless supply of angsty teen novels that you could read to forget about your own dreadful life, but instead you’re here, so in the tradition of trying to please everyone, I guess I should talk about what you’ve all come here for; or rather who you’ve all come here for, but before I do, I must remind you to not get your hopes up.

This is not a love story.
