Welcome back to another article!

This weeks theme is Friends to Lovers

As usual everyone has chosen 1-2 books with enemies to lovers.

For those of you that don’t know what that is, here is a little explanation :
Friends to lovers is a very simple trope, it means two people who have been friends and then evolve to lovers. It can be childhood best friends, casual friends or best friends.

What’s so good about it :
What makes it so good is when you can tell they both are trying to hide their feelings, to not ruin their friendship. They are constantly torn between acting on their feelings and seeing what happens or to stay as they are because they both need the friendship. And when it's a slow burn it's so good.

The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
Orphan Harry learns he is a wizard on his 11th birthday when Hagrid escorts him to magic-teaching Hogwarts School. As a baby, his mother's love protected him and vanquished the villain Voldemort, leaving the child famous as "The Boy who Lived." Ron & Hermione are the two most important characters after Harry. The beginning of their friendship was rough as they didn't like each other a lot. But due to some dangerous enemies that had to be fought together they grew closer and closer. Until their friendship became more.
Berühre mich. Nicht. by Laura Kneidl (=don't touch me)
Sage doesn't know anyone after she moved across the entire country to get as far away from her old life as possible. When she starts to study psychology she has nothing but a small truck (in which she lives) and her small etsy shop. When her friend April discovers her living situation, and sleeping in her car becomes a danger to her safety, she is welcomed into her small apartement. What Sage doesn't know however, is that April has a brother.

Sage & Luca's accidental friendship has to be one of my favourite one's ever. They're so wholesome and supportive of each other and the romance builds slowly and naturally.

The Dark Artifices
The word of a Shadowhunter is a solemn pledge, and no vow is more sacred than the vow that binds parabatai, the greatest decree of friendship, warrior partners—sworn to fight together, die together, but never to fall in love.
Emma Carstairs has learned that the love she shares with her parabatai and life-long friend, Julian Blackthorn, isn’t just forbidden—it could destroy them both. She knows she should run from Julian. But how can she when the shadowhunters are threatened by enemies on all sides?

Emma and Julian have been friends since they were children, and we even got to see them in this stage within the Shadowhunters series that came (chronologically) before this one, The Mortal Instruments. After the tragedy of Emma's parents passing away, the shadowhunter is now living with Julian, as his parabatai. Parabatai connections within Shadowhunters are deemed the highest decree of friendship, so high that those with the bond are forbidden to be lovers. Emma and Julian will later learn not only that they have strong feelings for one another, but also that there is a fatal reason behind the strict no-lovers parabatai rule.
A Court of Silver Flames
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.
The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

As ACOSF begins, characters Cassian and Nesta have been in a deep rut of unacknowledged sexual tension for years. They finally break the ice and start spending more time together when Nesta is forced to be in close quarters with him and learn to train. She is in an extremely poor mental health state, and after many arguments and adjustments are made, they finally form a friendship. (Also a "friends with benefits" relationship, if you will.) There was a really heartbreaking scene where Nesta verbally acknowledges him as her friend (because she believes that everyone else hates her), and it warmed every reader's heart. (I cried lmao). After that scene, as she begins to emerge into a better mental state, they are finally able to form a strong, legitimate relationship as mates.

Alina and Mal grew up together, two orphans who learned to stick together to face the harsh reality of not having a family. As they became adults, Alina refused to fall in love with Mal, because he is everything she is not : bright, charming, loved by everyone. But why, despite the fact that they are so different, does faith seem to always bring them back together ? While being alone at court, Alina tries to forget about Mal, destiny tearing them apart. But they will discover that to survive, they will need each other more than ever. To face the Fold and people’s expectation, Alina will need to rely one the only family she has : Mal. Because I was always Mal, from the beginning, and until the end.

When we were magic by Sarah Gailey
Keeping your magic a secret is hard. Being in love with your best friend is harder. Alexis has always been able to rely on two things: her best friends, and the magic powers they all share. Their secret is what brought them together, and their love for each other is unshakeable—even when that love is complicated. Complicated by problems like jealousy, or insecurity, or lust. Or love.
light, photo, and photography image animal, cute, and girl image
Wasn’t too keen on the magic part of the book, but I found the friendships and relationships depicted very realistic. There is not so much romance in the book because the main character don’t want to admit her feelings for her best friend during most of the story. Alexis is afraid that her love will be unrequited but she also doesn’t want to ruin their friendship, it was a very cute and relatable story.
Second chance summer by Morgan Matson
Taylor hasn't been to the summerhouse since she was twelve, and she definitely never planned on going back. Up at the lake she is confronted with people she thought she had left behind, like her former best friend Lucy, and Henry Crosby, her first crush, who's all grown up...and a lot cuter. Suddenly Taylor is surrounded by memories she'd rather leave in the past—but she can't run away this time. As the days lying on the beach pass into nights gazing at the stars, Taylor realizes she has a second chance—with friends, with family, maybe even with love.

Not going to lie, I read this book a long time ago and don’t remember much of it. But I almost always enjoy Morgan Matson’s books and this one is no exception. This was a really sweet story about second chances (hence the title), who made me feel many emotions (I cried).

The Perks of Being A Wallflower
This is the story of what it's like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie's letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives. We may not know to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixtapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that the perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of the books that captures what it’s like to be a teenager, and live with a problematic family so well. The main focus isn’t on the relationship between Charlie and Sam but rather Charlie’s relationship his friends, his family and himself. Charlie and Sam starts off as friends and form a very beautiful friendship that helps both Sam and Charlie in many ways and we see it form into something more than a friendship as time goes on.
Anna and the French Kiss
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

I have already mentioned this trilogy many times in my other articles because it’s just one of my favorite things to read and just relax. I absolutely love the scenery, the storyline and the relationship between all characters. Although both Anna and Etienne like each other they can’t really do anything about it because Etienne has a long term girlfriend and Anna has someone she sees...kinda. So they form a very beautiful and fun friendship and we get to follow them while Etienne introduces Paris to Anna. We get more details about their relationship as the series goes on so I would definitely recommend reading the 2 books that come after this one as well.

Love, Rosie
Rosie and Alex are destined for one another, and everyone seems to know it but them. Best friends since childhood, their relationship gets closer by the day, until Alex gets the news that his family is leaving Dublin and moving to Boston. At 17, Rosie and Alex have just started to see each other in a more romantic light. Devastated, the two make plans for Rosie to apply to colleges in the U.S. She gets into Boston University, Alex gets into Harvard, and everything is falling into place, when on the eve of her departure, Rosie gets news that will change their lives forever: She's pregnant by a boy she'd gone out with while on the rebound from Alex.

This was my favorite movie for years, (still is) and when I found out there was a book, ofc I had to read it. Unfortunately the book sucked, but I’m still bringing it up because Alex and Rosie truly are one of the best friends to lovers i’ve seen and read. They are always there for each other no matter what, and will do anything for the other. (ps, don’t read the book, watch the movie. This is very rare case where the movie is better than the book)

Looking for Alaska by John Green
Before. Miles “Pudge” Halter is done with his safe life at home. His whole life has been one big non-event, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave “the Great Perhaps” even more (Francois Rabelais, poet). He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young. She is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. Then. . . .

To be honest, John green has many books with this troupe but this one is so emotive and special that makes it my favourite. Paper towns was good but the film ruined it a bit for me, it was good, but not as good as I had expected it to be. The story will get to you and you'll probably be mad at how it is being developed but it's so worth it.
Marriage on Madison Avenue by Lauren Layne

[...] Clarke is the charming playboy Audrey can always count on, and he knows that the ever-loyal Audrey will never not play along with his strategy for dodging his matchmaking mother—announcing he’s already engaged…to Audrey. What starts out as a playful game between two best friends turns into something infinitely more complicated, as just-for-show kisses begin to stir up forbidden feelings. As the faux wedding date looms closer, Audrey and Clarke realize that they can never go back to the way things were, but deep down, do they really want to?

This is the typical 'fake' relationship that leads to being lovers afterwards. I really enjoyed it, it's simple and you don't need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. As a reader you can clearly feel the romance , it's really fun to read

Percy Jackson and the Olympians
After Percy’s pre-algebra teacher turns into a monster and tries to kill him, his mom knows it’s time to send him to Camp Half-Blood. A place where the children of the Greek gods train and learn how to use their powers. Turns out he’s the son of Poseidon. Along with the help of a Grover, a satyr, and Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, he starts a quest across the country to prevent an apocalyptic war between the gods.

Percy and Annabeth don’t get along right away because of their parents having a feud but they soon come to respect each other and become friends. After their many brushes with death on their journey. Percy and Annabeth start catching feelings for one another. What I love about them is they always respect and admire each other. Despite the feud of their parents, Percy and Annnabeth have a great bond. When they finally start dating, they have one of the healthiest relationships I’ve seen in books. They love and protect each other but also know how powerful each of them are. They don’t stifle or restrict each other. They’re as close to a perfect relationship as you can get. I definitely strive to have a relationship like them.

That’s all for today, thanks for reading.
