I do not know about you, but ever since the end of the winter break and the beginning of the school semester, it is not blood but caffeine that runs in my veins.

I am a STARBUCKS addict because my order (Iced White Mocha with oat milk and Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Foam) is a daily mood booster and I got a second Nespresso machine at Christmas which I love using regularly. However, I always hear that coffee is bad for our health and as a Gilmore Girls fan, I refused to believe that. Therefor, I have conducted a small research and here are some facts :

- Most sites agree to say that a "healthy" amount of coffee a day is 400 mg ; that is around 3-5 cups of coffee a day. // "A small home-brewed cup of coffee could provide 50 mg, while a 16-ounce (475-ml) Starbucks grande packs over 300 mg" https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/how-much-coffee-should-you-drink#coffees-caffeine-content.

- Consequences to taking more include : increased heart rate, raised blood pressure, anxiety, and difficulty to fall asleep (and insomnia in some cases).

HOWEVER, the list of benefits is longer since coffee can have a great impact on your health
- Studies have shown that it decreases the risk for many diseases such as type 2 diabetes, strokes, Alzheimer, colon cancer, liver diseases and many others ;
- It is an antioxidant (which protect from free radicals) ;
- It is linked to increased longevity ;
- Improves your concentration and focus ;
- It helps burn fat and lose weight : https://blog.warriorcoffee.com/blog/12-health-benefits-and-6-disadvantages-of-coffee-smashing-it.

Finally, while coffee appears to be a healthy option, keep in mind that drinking a cup on an empty stomach produces unnecessary hydrochloric acid which could cause possible gas and bloating. Therefore replacing it with matcha in the am would be a great option !
