Hi everyone!❤

I've wanted to do a rock history article series for a while now, and I've finally decided to get started! I'm basing it off of the diagram from School of Rock; I saw the musical two years ago - it wasn't the greatest, but I knew I just had to have this diagram.

Basically, I listened to all the artists' top 5 songs on Spotify, and dove deeper if I liked someone. Now I think I can sum it all up into the essentials of classic rock.

In this article we're going to go through the essential folk, folk rock, rock a billy, r&b, doo wop, soul, and funk artists.

So let's get into it!

Stevie Wonder is an American artist, and one of the most prominent figures in popular music of the 20th century. He is often called a genius, which title I think he deserves; he influenced the evolution of many genres of music and many artists. Wonder was blinded shortly after birth, and apparently his hightened awareness of sound helped him become a child prodigy; he was the youngest ever artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart (with the single Fingertips, at age 13). He later sang about important social and spiritual issues, all the while managing to keep his music positive and upbeat. His most popular songs are Superstition, Sir Duke, Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours), and Higher Ground.

Prince was an American artist who played multiple instruments and was known for creating music in multiple genres. His wide vocal range also makes his songs very distinctive. On the whole, he was one of a kind, using his multiple talents to create truly special and iconic songs. His most popular ones are Purple Rain, Kiss, When Doves Cry, and Raspberry Beret.

That's all for now, I'm sorry if this was a bit long (although the next parts might be just as long, idk :D), but I really wanted to get the ancient history part out of the way before we get to the really good stuff..:) I myself love soul and r&b, but I understand they're not the most popular genres.

If you're really not into it, you can skip these artists, but Bob Dylan and Chuck Berry are absolutely essential, so I recommend knowing them if no one else.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it and maybe got motivated to check out a few artists!❤

Lovelovelove,
