This lesson is a quote from an episode of a podcast I was listening to today, a women's history podcast called What'shername.

The episode focused on Shelamzion (also known as Salome Alexandra), who ruled Judea from 76-67 BCE. She was extremely well educated, and was married when she was 29, which would have been late for a woman of her time. She became a ruler in her own right in her 60s, when her husband named her as his official successor. Her rule was considered a golden age.
