Hey everyone!

For today’s collab we will be introducing to you guys our favorite summertime recipes from our home countries (France and the United States). We hope that you all enjoy these simple and delicious recipes as much as we do!

France:

1. Ratatouille

Ratatouille is probably one of the most famous dishes in France, and lucky for you, it’s also extremely easy to make. It originates from the south of France, most specifically from Nice. All you need is some vegetables—ripe tomato, eggplant, zucchini, onion and bell pepper—as well as olive oil and some herbs. That means it’s also ideal for vegetarians ! You can eat it hot, but also cold (on pieces of bread seasoned with garlic is the best) which is why it counts as a perfect summer dish. A great thing about ratatouille is that it’s also pretty free: you can experiment with the vegetables, the cooking time, or the presentation.

Anyway, here’s the recipe:
  • Cut the eggplants and zucchinis in slices (not too thick) and the bell peppers in thin slices after having removed the seeds.
  • Peel the skin off the tomatoes (optional) and cut those in quarters. Also cut the onions in small pieces and throw the tomatoes/onions in a pan with olive oil and some garlic.
  • Add some herbs like basil, rosemary or bay leaves (those I personally hate but everyone’s different lol) and let it cook a few minutes until it’s golden.
  • Finally, add the rest of the vegetables you’ve previously chopped, cover the pan and let that cook slowly for at least 15 minutes. Voilà, you got yourself a perfect ratatouille !

2. Mimosa

The mimosa is a cocktail that was created in the 1920’s at the Ritz Hotel, Paris. The Ritz is a five-star hotel which has welcomed many famous people such as Coco Chanel, Hemingway or Jean-Paul Sartre. Usually consisting of orange juice mixed with champagne, the mimosa is a very simple yet delicate drink. It is very refreshing and therefore ideal for summer. One sip of this drink will instantly make you feel fancy and put you in the perfect mood for summer. Besides, what is more French than champagne ?

  • For this cocktail, there really isn’t a lot to do: you’ll only need champagne and orange juice—and you can also put it in a champagne glass to add an elegant feel to it. That’s it !

1. Fruit Salad
This is a quick and easy summertime treat that is perfect for outdoor picnics. As for its history, fruit salad was introduced to the United States in the mid-1800s and then became popular during World War II. The specific recipe that I’ll be describing is the American version which includes sweeter ingredients.

Ingredients (adjust the fruit to whatever you prefer):
  • Strawberries
  • Pineapple
  • Blueberries
  • Grapes
  • Kiwi
  • Mandarin oranges
  • Honey
  • Limes
Directions:
  • Cut up the fruit and toss it into a large mixing bowl
  • Make the dressing by whisking together honey, lime zest, and lime juice in a separate bowl
  • Drizzle the dressing over the fruit then mix and you’ll finally have the perfect fruit salad!

2. Flavored Ice Pops

Another popular recipe to cool down in summer is ice popsicles. Just like the other ones, it’s simple to make and really tasty. There are also many variations to this snack which makes it even better to customize to your tastes.

Ingredients and supplies:
  • Popsicle molds (you can buy these off of Amazon or just use disposable cups
  • Lemonade or any other juice you prefer
  • Popsicle sticks
Directions:
  • Pour your juice into the mold you choose then place the popsicle stick in the middle (you can keep the stick in the center if you’re using a disposable cup by wrapping the top with tinfoil then puncturing it with the stick).
  • Let it sit in the freezer for around 5 hours

Well, that's it for our typical summer recipes. Hope you enjoyed our ideas, feel free to experiment with them and most importantly, have a great summer ✨💕

Thanks a lot for reading !
