The Painting:

The painting doesn't actually represent the birth of the goddess, but her arrival on the island of Cyprus, accompanied by Zephyrus and Flora (left) and a maiden (right) ready to cover Venus with a coat embroidered with roses, myrtles and primulas, all flowers sacred to the goddess.
