Everyone has got some life experiences, some memories, that will never fall apart, because they made us like this, they created our personalities. In my opinion, these memories can help other people too, and that’s why I’ve decided to join the @WeHeartitGazette project called ‘memoirs’ and write this article.

Childhood
Have you ever played the hopscotch game?
I used to play this game with my cousins when I was a child. We used to look for chalks, or small rocks, to write the numbers and our scores. Sometimes we also convinced other members of the family to play with us. We loved that game.
We also used to do treasure hunts, feed our bunnies, watch a tv show that was very popular a decade ago, run in our grandparents’ yard. We didn’t need a lot of things to be happy, we just wanted to stay together. We were careless, we didn’t know the pain.
Now, ten years later, I wish that those moments lasted longer. If there’s something that I’ve learned in this decade is that everything changes, and we aren’t supposed to stay on this earth for a long time. We don’t know where we’ll be the next year just like we don’t know where we’ll be tomorrow, or where the people we care about will be. That’s why we should live every moment and spend life with our loved ones before it’s too late, because we’ll never know when ‘too late’ is.

Middle school
In Italy, middle school lasts three years: we go there for the first time when we’re 11 years old, and we do our final exam when we are 13. In middle school we don’t know who we are, and we don’t know who we are going to be in the future, and while we’re trying to figure it out, we experience our ‘first times’.
I was in middle school the first time that I traveled without my mum. I was with a group of other teens and some adults of course, but I had to do some things on my own. I remember that some guys used to make fun of me, and I spent most of my holiday crying. It wasn’t the best holiday ever, but I learned that nobody should think that they have the right to make me feel like this, and I have to show that I’m stronger than someone who makes fun of other people just to feel better about himself.

I was in middle school when I had to make my first big decision: the high school.
In Italy, we’ve got different types of high school, and each one focuses on different subjects, even if there are some subjects that we study in every high school. The high school choice is really important for your future career, and that’s why it’s an important decision for us. At first it was really difficult because I was (and I am right now) passionate about a lot of different things, but then I figured out what I would like to study and now I know that I made the right choice. This helped me to understand who I really am, and who I want to be. I also understood that I have the power of change my future at any time, and nobody can change it for me.

High school
I’ve just finished my second year of high school, but I lived my best experiences there.
First of all, I’ve met my besties. Before them, I didn’t know what friendship means, but now, thanks to some crazy girls who always know how to cheer me up, I finally do. We went through so much together, and I hope that we’ll stay together till the end.
These two years of high school also taught me the importance of learning as much as I can and be curious. I started thinking less and acting more and I started changing my personality and my interests.

So these are my best memories and the best life lessons I’ve learned by far, and I hope that they will help or inspire you.
