Hustle culture is the mindset that in order to live a truly successful life, we have to constantly be working, doing something productive or make a large amount of money and be well known. This is similar to celebrity culture, as celebrities are always seen as people who are (somehow) incredibly successful and most notably, RICH. Both are found in one if the most toxic places in our lives: social media.

The problem is that this sort of social media culture makes us aspire to be either rich, famous, live up to impossible beauty standards, or make us feel like if we're lesser than or as if we're not living our lives unless we're constantly HUSTLING. This leads to a multitude of other issues in our lives as well. And I'm sure we have all been affected by it at one point.

Due to the constant pressure of celebrities and such around us, we feel like we constantly have to work. This leads to anxiety, burn out depression. Sad because we can't all look like Addison Rae and get famous for doing it. Anxious because we can't all be young billionaires and have fun family vacations in the Bahamas when ever we feel like it. Thinking we're wasting our time because we spend days wrapped in a blanket, watching Netflix and snacking on chips.

There are several steps we can all take. One is to take a break from social media. This is super helpful for me, as it allows me to just work on myself and my interests and hobbies, as well as the things that are most important to me. Another method is to remember to work at your own pace and remember that nothing happens before it's supposed to. We all have our time to shine. And finally- and this one is IMPORTANT- we ALL need to learn to develop self care as a habit. By self care I don't mean just putting on a face mask and some eye patches. I mean getting into the deeper stuff. Re-evaluate how YOU want to live YOUR life. What makes YOU happy? When do YOU feel most alive? It's all about you.
