| Start early |

If you are a high school student 2 weeks earlier is perfect, but in college, you need to start earlier than that (4~6 weeks) so you can do your best at the exams. And that's because there is a lot more information to study and memorize when you are a college student.

Starting earlier will for sure keep you less stressed about your exams, because you'll be able to study for short sessions and have enough time to rest and do other activities. 4 to 5 hours of studying a day (or even 2 hours) might be enough for you to finish revising a few days before the exam, and then review everything one last time and feel confident when are done.

Make a plan that suits you in the beginning of your preparation. Schedule a few hours a day of studying and make sure you know the best techniques to study smart.

. Space your study sessions

As a human being, we don't have the same levels of motivation and productivity all the time and everyday. They may also vary from a person to another.

If you can't study for more than 3 hours straight, it's totally fine. Plan 2 study sessions a day for 3 hours or 2 hours and have enough rest between them.

. Focus during the session

Try to get the most out of your study sessions, focus on your tasks as much as you can and set yourself on the mindset of just working. Stay away from distractions, not just your phone and TV, but also any thoughts that might come to your head during the sessions.

If you find yourself thinking a lot about other things while studying, here is a tip for you : write down you thoughts and tasks that are bothering you, clear your head from any distractions, and set a timer for yourself for about 30 minutes and try to only focus on studying during that time. When those 30 minutes end, you'll feel much more into your task, your focus level is much higher, and now you can keep on studying with higher levels of productivity.

. Take regular breaks

Don't be too hard on yourself, your mind and body need rest sometimes, schedule regular productive breaks between study sessions. Stay motivated as much as you can during those breaks and stay away from social media (leave them for the evening when you are done with studying).

Exam season is actually a stressing time, you need to be prepared both mentally and physically to handle it. That mans you need to:

  • Eat healthy and energetic meals
  • Exercise a little bit to release stress
  • Have enough rest and sleep
  • Believe in yourself and be confident & positive

The first and most important thing I recommend to you is : don't sleep for more than 8 hours. Personally, I find it really helpful to sleep between 6 and 7 hours, I wake up much more energized and spend a really productive day. Sleeping for longer than that makes me feel lazy and not in the mood for studying or working.

. Waking up early

waking up early gives you the opportunity to start your day right, start it before anyone else does!
Being able to study for two hours and get some work done in the early morning will make you feel much more accomplished and productive.

Wake up at 6 or 7 am if you don't have school in the morning, study a bit and later at 9.30 have your breakfast, you'll feel like your day has just started and you already completed some tasks! If you do have school in the morning you can try waking up at 5 am, but make sure you do that slowly by waking up 20 minutes earlier each day, and sleeping earlier as well.

| Less stress |

  • Know you are able to get good grades and finish revision on time.
  • Know you are strong and you'll reach your goals.
  • Know you are on the right path towards getting what you want.
  • Know that starting early and being consistent will lead you to success.
  • Know that your dreams are worth the hard work and energy you are spending now.
  • Know that every little step will make you closer to your goal.
  • Know that all the fun and parties can wait, make studying a priority.

| Know your goal |

You need to set a specific goal, is it getting a high grade? or getting the best grade in the class? are you trying to get to a specific college that requires higher grades?...
You need to precise your goal so you can have enough passion and motivation to make it come true. Your goals are what motivates you and inspires you to do and become better.
