So we all at times want to be cheap on vacation, maybe because it can accure some things that make you want to stay cheap, or you simply just want it all cheap. I’m going to France myself in two weeks, and I don’t have that much money. And I have to pay everything in myself, my parents aren’t really that rich either, but the ones I’m travelling with is a wealthy family. So how can you have a nice time, and be cheap too? Well, let’s see..
1. The flight!

The first thing is the flight, if the ones you’re travelling with doesn’t care much about the flight, then that’s a cue for you. The cheaper the better, right? If you’re also not going to fly that long, even better. You actually save money! If you want to go environmental friendly, there is a few options. However, as a former tourism student I know and I learned that planes today is the most awful transportation you can take. If you think that one plane you’re travelling with, it produces just as much co2 as a 100 cars driving at the same time. That’s a lot of poisonous gases on our earth.
However, here are some options of different flights you might find handy.
Norwegian - First of Norwegian has been voted the most fuel-efficient airline for flights between Europe and USA in 2015 & 2018. Their flights are constructed, which reduces overall weight they have and saves the fuel. For each person who buys a ticket, they plant a tree either in Spain or England. Their seats and service are of the normal league, and the prices can be affordable.
SAS - For all of SAS’s pollution they endorses the «polluter pays» which is a good thing because of all the CO2 gases they produce, they also help the world by planting trees, reducing plastic and other friendly options. SAS also use biodegradable packaging when it comes to food and drinks onboard the plane. They have great seats, for you who maybe want a little better seating, but their prices can be expensive.
Ryanair - Ryanair is Europe’s greenest and cleanest airline. Ryanair has also been independently verified as the industry leader in environmental efficiency and are continuously working to improve their environmental performance. Ryanair is also one of the cheapest airlines in the world, but their seating not so great, so here is a cheap option.
2. Water

While going on a vacation buy a water bottle on the AirPort. Whenever the water is empty, refill it. Some countries may not have the best water options, so in those countries you May want to buy bottled water instead of tap. This is a cheap way to save your money, many people today buy lots of water bottles and then buys a new one when really some countries have good enough water for you to drink straight from the tap. Here is a list of safe and unsafe watertap countries:

3. Cook your own meals

Okay so here is one of the main problems, people today spend a lot on going out when going on vacation. However, if you have a kitchen where you go or at least a possibility of making your own food. Take the chance, you save lots of money by doing so.
4. Rail passes

Rail passes are a cheap way to save your money when it comes to travelling with train. If you’re traveling around the region for a while, or simply are staying for awhile, rail passes will likely be much cheaper than just booking individual trips. If you book ahead of time, you will probably save 50%, 50%!!! That’s a lot, wow!
5. Discount cards?

Are you a student, teacher, or maybe under 26? You can save a whole lot of money, I even saved 50%-off attractions and a plethora of discounts.
6. Free hiking tours

You see not every attraction costs money. Many people offer free tours, 90% of Europe does them a little less in the other countries but they still exist. To find these tours, just ask around on tourist offices, hotel staff or other people.
7. Split the costs

If you’re travelling together with people, split the costs. If you’re staying at a hotel, split the costs, or if you’re eating out, split the costs, or if you’re attending an event, split the costs. Trust me, you can save so much money by doing this. Even if you’re lucky, some of the other people will be nice enough to pay for you. winkwink
8. Take out money in your own bank

Before going on a vacation, please take out your money in your own bank. At least take out some cash, it can be so damn expensive to take out on an ATM in other countries. The charge is a percentage of the amount of the transaction, and it’s typically around 3%. If so, maybe you can consider a credit card that doesn’t assess foreign transaction fees — you’ll thank me on your next international trip. And I’ll thank my stepmom for telling me this.
9. Plan Ahead

Harder said than done, but really if you can think ahead in time and make a schedule. You can really save lots of money. For example, if you think about where you’re going to get your meals, you can just pack a lunch or dinner instead of eating out. Probably not really funny, but if you perhaps take a visit in the park and sit down in the grass, you can have a picnic. Perhaps you can split up the costs, that will be so much fun and personal.
10. Eat less meat

I’m not saying you should become a vegetarian, but it is good for the environment. Haha. Okay, so meat is more expensive if you’re deciding to eat out. If you take a dish with less meat and more vegetables, it can be a little cheaper then if you had chosen the meat dish. At the same time, it’s healthy.
