Of course, at the end of the day, this article is just my opinion; Its not a 'must' to feel the same way I did nor to even watch this drama unless you want to.
I loved it so so much and I am recommending it to yall with open arms. At first, nothing much seemed interesting for me either but oh well- here I am, thanking God for this masterpiece; which is probably why I'm writing this lame article to let you know that sometimes, things might seem boring to you but once you actually give it a try, it might change ur mind. So let's not miss out on the good stuff because we're judgy.

By the time I've read the summary and a couple of comments, I understood what's the story about but didn't care too much just yet.
Usually when I see a movie/ drama being so succesful it makes me curious so I was balancing everything.
I'll add that I love historical dramas; a fantasy plot and on top of those I love me some chinese language, let alone the fact that I know how much those historical costumes wreck my heart. ON TOP OF THOSE I see my bias Xiao Zhan as the main lead.
and y e t- I slowly went to check out the OST (wasting time) - A few more days passed by but I was so in love with the track list to the point where I was listening to it every day wondering why I feel like crying along with the characters when idk what's going on.
My only concern was that my lazy ass can't handle 50 episodes. But hey, ''for Xiao Zhan'' - i said - ''I could at least give it a try'' โบ

โน Having some of my favorite actors in the cast is pretty much a plus for me but this time I only had one dear actor, Xiao โบ
But loves, as the drama went on, I began to like more and more each of the characters.
(I like the - going back and forth with a plot - as in 'having to follow the characters' past events to understand why the present turned out the way it is shown in the first/s episode/s'' - so nothing bad here. I'm mentioning this because I heard some people saying they don't like this| which is such a small detail -but well, you do you, ma'am / sir.)
Anyway, as I kept watching, the friendships formed between the cultivators from different sects and the little funny scenes caused by the troublemaker Wei Wu Xian (Xiao Zhan) during the begining, really got my attention and put a smile on my face.
As the episodes went by, I started to relate to more characters' personalities and the decisions they've made. I can surely say that this is one of the very few dramas where I was able to relate so much to the females lead characters. Boy, the way I cried With and For them so many times-
Sure, at certain points I just wanted to punch some of the characters in the face but they were acting so well that I could understand their reasons for doing all the nasty things they did. It was wrong but also it made sense. On whose side was I -
I don't even know. Everything seemed justified somehow โบ

- I plan to read the novel too since I loved the drama so much even tho' they aren't exactly the same (?) But from what I've heard, the drama kept a few things similar.
Regardless, the drama alone is at the moment, one of my favorite asian dramas.
Maybe to some it lacks things as the classic romance or it could feel too overwhelming - to me it had enough of everything also not enough when I finished the last episode. It left me confused over how 50 eps felt like one movie.
To me, it was beautiful; Each character's happiness made me happy while I could also feel everyone's pain in my own chest.
As for the ending, I've had another view in my mind but even so, it didn't dissapoint me; it was different and I believe that's the beauty of it.
And let me tell you, I like to think that the novel has its own unique beauty as well; cause maybe some people won't give the novel or the drama a try only based on the BL part. As far as I can tell when it comes to the drama - I thought it will be BL af and I gave no damn. Nor it became 'better' when I realized how the producers turned that into an amazing, strong friendship / bromance (however you call it).
What I saw were happy and cruel moments; Such a big amount of care for the other person rather than for one's own self followed by the sacrifices made out of love for the family.
Speaking of which, idk yet whose sacrifice was 'worse' because when I'm looking again at everything, some things that seem so wrong, they once started out of love.
I often kept seeing a line that sounded like 'what's right and what's wrong and how to tell what's black and what's white'' along the drama which I guess it was not put there for no reason but even as a viewer I don't have the answer to that either.
In conclusion, I'm not giving any 5 stars to this - instead I'm giving the whole sky full of real stars tbh.
