Maybe I'm writing this for myself or maybe I'm writing this for someone else- I don't know. But I do know that you don't have to be perfect. You don't have to piece yourself together perfectly. You don't have to be afraid to fail. You have to be afraid to try again. You don't have to be afraid to give yourself room to grow.

Confession: Today, I got in my head. I ruined my entire day because I compared my growth to someone else's. I compared my chapter 1 with someone's chapter 15.

We can't do that. We aren't being fair. We aren't giving ourselves the chance to learn, to be better. How are we to get better if we are perfect to begin with? That's the thing wrong with being perfect, it leaves no room for growth. No one is perfect. So that guy, that girl, that celebrity, that you find yourself comparing yourself to, remember: They are human too. I am sure they do amazing things and a good person, but we need to get to the point where we can build up others without tearing ourselves down.

So, you don't have to be perfect. You don't have to be like her, or him, or them. Instead, you can compliment them and build them up, but remember to compliment yourself, too. Because no matter where you are in your journey, you are trying. And contrary to popular belief, that is worth a round of applause, too.
