Our bedrooms are where we express our personality. Having a good space makes it easier to sleep and be relaxed than when it's a mess. Here are some simple tips to help you get started to giving your bedroom a makeover.

1. Find a theme and stick with it ~ 60-30-10 % rule

Finding a theme sounds easy but it's probably the hardest to do because it means you have to find what you like and come up with a game plan on how to stick for that theme. Most interior designers stick to the 60-30-10 percent rule. This means 60% of your bedroom is color 1, 30% is color 2 and 10% is color 3. For example, my bedroom is 60% blue, 30% grey, and 10% pink.
2. Find a favorite object in your room to base your bedroom makeover around

Pick a piece of furniture in your bedroom to base your bedroom makeover around. A lot of people tend to choose their bed but you can pick anything from your desk chair to a lamp. From there you can get a sense of what color or theme you could do for your room.
3. Know how big your room is before you start

Knowing how big your bedroom is very important before you start moving furniture around. This can help you decide what can and can't fit into your room.
4. Add fairy lights to your room

Fairy lights or Christmas lights can light up your room at night and make your room feel cozy. They can make your room feel different without spending too much money. Make sure if you are going to use Christmas lights to check to see if they work before hanging them up.
5. Add some plants to your room

Plants are also a great simple way to makeover your room without spending a load of money. If you're like me and can't keep a plant alive you can always buy fake ones. I love getting fake succulents to add to my desk or nightstand.
6. Match your bedroom to where you live

Think about where you are living and try to match your bedroom to it. For example, if you live in So-cal then you might want more of natural colors with an accent of blue for a beachy feel. If you live in the moutans you might want a more earthy vibe to it.
