Step 1: Throw out your scale

The second you throw out your scale you feel a lot of pressure lifted off of you. The number on the scale always seems to control your life. If you tend to check your weight week to week instead try only checking once a month or when you visit your doctor.

Step 2: Unfollow negative sources

Unfollow anyone who doesn't share the same values as you. I avoid Instagram all together because there are a lot of negative things on there for me. Instead, follow models or people who have the same body type as you. Then when you scroll through your feed you will get a reminder to love your self.

Step 3: Make a list of traits you like about yourself

This might sound a little cheesy but doing this will help put you in the right mindset to think positive about your self. It doesn't have to be all physical traits it can be about your personality too. Whenever you don't feel good about your self you can look back at this list to remind you what you love about yourself.

Step 4: Make a list of what you would like to change and decide how to change it

Now that you made a list of things you like about your self, make a list of things about yourself you would like to change or improve. Make sure they are goals you will be able to accomplish. Make sure to know that there will be some parts of your body you will not be able to change. Remember this is the beginning to figure out how to love your body.

Step 5: See food as fuel

There are so many different diets that it can feel hard knowing if you are eating the right thing. Figure out what your needs and what foods work best for you. We are all different and will have different needs for our bodies. Seeing food as fuel than something we need to indulge in will help you understand what makes your body feel good.

Step 6: Spend time with your body

Put on your sexy lingerie or your favorite swimsuit and spend some time with your self. This might feel weird or awkward at first but eventually, you will get start to used to it. A lot of us quickly get dresses in the morning and not pay attention to our bodies. Taking time every day to get comfortable with our bodies can help you to love your body more.

Step 7: Stop thinking about other people's body types

Everyone has a different body shape and we all struggle with our bodies. Thinking to your self that you would like to be like another girl will do more harm than good. Putting all those negative thoughts inside your head is not good. Instead, focus on how good you feel today.

Step 8: Meditate

Meditating is so healthy for you and It helps you get into the right headspace. There is a lot of beginning mediating videos on youtube and the apps calm or headspace are also good for beginners. You don't need to mediate for long, only 5 to 10 min in the morning or when you have time. Make sure you are in a space that you feel comfortable and that is quite.

Step 9: Find workouts that you love

Find a workout that is fun and makes you feel sexy. I love practicing yoga because it helps me focus on how strong and flexible my body is. On the other hand, running makes me feel like i am back in high school running the mile so i try to avoid that. This will take some trial and error but once you find what you love, working out will become something that makes you feel good about yourself.

Step 10: Donate clothes that don't make you feel good

Get rid of the clothes that make you feel bad about your body whether that is a shirt that is too tight or a clothing item you kept in your closet for years but never worn it. Go through your closet and try them on and what doesn't feel good put in a donate pile. Wear clothes that make you feel confident and beautiful.

Step 11: Find your power outfit

Make sure you have a go-to outfit that you know will always make you feel good when you don't know what to wear. Explore your closet and play around with your clothes. Have fun putting different pieces together and have a fashion show with your BFF. Remind your self that fashion can be fun and it is not limited to one body type.

Step 12: Allow yourself to have bad days

There will be days where all you want to do is wear sweat pants and eat ice cream. That's perfectly ok. Confidence and your body image is a process and it won't happen overnight. Some days you might feel sexy as fuck and others you don't want to get out of your bed but understanding that will show you that you are on your way to love your body and for who you are.
