“I want you to be the very best version of yourself that you can be.”
“What if this is the best version?”
Written and directed by Greta Gerwig, Lady Bird, staring Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf and Timothée Chalamet, it is a coming-of-age story of a high school senior and her strained relationship with her mother. Set in Sacramento, California, between the fall of 2002 and the summer of 2003.

“I just wish … I wish that you liked me.”
“Of course I love you.”
“But do you like me?”
What most impressed me about this movie was the mother-daughter relationship, it reminds me so much of my relationship with my mum that can be very troubled at times, as we both have such strong personalities and different life views. We see the same on-screen between the protagonists. I felt Lady Bird pain of thinking she's not a good daughter, because she wanted to pursue her dream of going to college at New York, and her mum was against of it, many times saying that she wasn't capable to do it. I think many people can relate to that, when our parents don't support our dreams, we can feel the height of it in our life, as our relationship with them deteriorates, causing much distress and anger. Also, we can relate to the stress of growing up, the insecurities, the relationship with our parents, our friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, school, and even religion. This movie touched me in a different way, I hope it touches you too.
