I am heartbroken.

For those of you who don't know, the Amazon has been burning for more than 2 weeks now. And the worst thing is that no one in Brasil is doing anything about it, because those fires are intentionnal. Bolsonaro's gouvernment set those fire in order to "get rid" of a native tribe that lives there.

It is an awful decision that is gonna have even more awful consequences than originally intended. This is an ecological catastrophe. With the current state of climate change, we need trees more than ever before to balance the carbon emissions. But things haven't been looking good for the forest from day 1 of Bolsonaro's presidency. He identified as a global warning sceptic all his campaign. And recently, he had fired the head of the INPE, who's mission was to mesure deforestation, because he accused him of giving fake numbers.

Therefore, I highly encourage you to sign this petition to make Brasil stop those fires :

And share this petition with as many people as you can. There are surely more petitions going around on the internet, but it was the biggest one I found.

But I want to leave you with a couple of positive things.

  • Ethiopia has recently broken a record by planting 353 million trees in 12 hours and plans on planting 4 billion trees before the beginning of October.

  • You can support tree planting initiatives, such as 8 Billion Trees. For 20$ a month, this organisation saves 100 trees and plants 10 more for each month of subscription. You can subscribe on here : https://8billiontrees.com/

  • If you don't have 20$ to spend every month, you can download Ecosia. It is a free reseach engine that gives all of its add profit to organisations who plant trees in tropical regions of the world.

There is still hope. And we can all contribute to change.
