hope all is well! I'm headed back up to school in a few days but thought I'd write something before i go.
I'm a big film lover and thought I would share some movies I've watched (and rewatched) recently that I really love. So, if you're in the need for some good film recommendations, I hope you find something here.

1. ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD - DIR. QUENTIN TARANTINO
(2019)
I got to see this in a packed theater, and I loved it. Not my favorite Tarantino film, but still super good. It stars Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo Dicaprio. So, a pretty stacked cast.
If you haven't seen some of his other films, check out my favorites, RESERVOIR DOGS or INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS

WHERE TO WATCH: currently, in theaters. It's said to be coming to Netflix some time in the future, but no date as of yet.
2. YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE - DIR. LYNNE RAMSAY
(2017)
I finished watching this last night, and I am so obsessed with this film. It's super incredible, so if you're into films that tend towards arthouse influence or even literature-inspired (this was a book first!), this is a great one. Also, if you are a fan of Joaquin Phoenix (he was in Her dir. Spike Jonze!), you may like this. It's a completely different feel and he plays a totally different character. But, i fell in love with it.

WHERE TO WATCH: Amazon Prime!
3. GOOD TIME - DIR. BENNY + JOSH SAFDIE
(2017)
If you're a sucker for neon lights and great camera movements, as I am, you'll like this one. It stars Robert Pattinson as the main character, as he struggles to get his brother out of prison after a botched robbery. The story is twisted in a lot of ways but is really unique. It is an A24 film.

WHERE TO WATCH: Amazon Prime!
4. TAXI DRIVER - DIR. MARTIN SCORSESE
(1976)
Even if you aren't a fan of older films, this is one I would encourage you to watch this one. This is a deep, intense analysis of grimy, dirty New York, and one that deals with loneliness and introspection. Robert De Niro helms the film as Travis Bickle, who plays a veteran who works as a night-time taxi driver. It's really brilliant, and is well worth the watch.

WHERE TO WATCH: Netflix!
5. SHAZAM! - DIR. DAVID F. SANDBERG
(2019)
Okay, i watched this on the plane ride back from visiting family this summer, and I kinda loved this film. I'm a big superhero fan, and I wasn't quite sure why I never saw this in theaters. But even if you aren't a big fan of superhero films, this movie still has a lot of heart to it, and will genuinely make you smile. Zachary Levi is our main character, and has a wonderful connection with Freddy, played by Jack Dylan Grazer (if you've seen IT or Beautiful Boy, he is in both of these). This is just a great feel-good movie.

WHERE TO WATCH: not sure! I'm sorry! For purchase on Youtube or Amazon Prime

thanks for reading!
