Hold on to your horses, this is going to be a creepy one.

Here's a link to a video of the 911 calls.

This case is about Paul Michael Stephani, also known as: The weepy voiced killer.

It all started on New years eve, 1980 when Stephani beat 20-year-old Karen Potack, causing her to have severe injuries and brain damage. At 3am Stephani called the police, crying, weeping: “There’s a girl hurt here.”

His next victim was Kimberly Compton, an 18-year-old student from Wisconsin.
On the 3rd of June 1981 he again, called the police, saying: “Goddamn will you find me, I just stabbed somebody with an ice pick. I can’t stop myself. I keep killing people.”

He called the police two days later to say that he was sorry for stabbing Compton, and that he would turn himself in. -- but as you can guess, he didn’t. A day later he called to say that some of the newspaper accounts of some of the murders were inaccurate. (how fucking sick)
His next call was on june 11th. In a barely coherent an whimpering voice he called to say that he was sorry for what he did to Compton.

His third victim was Kathleen Greening, who was found dead at her home. Stephani did not call the police after this kill, so the police had no lead to who murdered Greening. Stephani later confessed to drowning her in her own bathtub.

His fourth (and thank god last murder) victim was 40-year-old Barbara Simons. The two met at the Hexagon bar, after Simons gave Stephani an extra cigarette. After spending the night at the bar with Stephani, Simons told a waitress: “He’s cute, I hope he’s nice, since he’s giving me a ride home.” (bless her soul)
Simons was found stabbed to death the next day.

Stephani did call the police after this murder, saying: “Please don’t talk, just listen… I’m sorry, I killed that girl. I stabbed her 40 times. Kimberly Compton was the first one over in St. Paul.

On august 21st 1982, Stephani picked up 19-year-old sex worker named Denise Williams. Williams sensed something was wrong when Stephani began driving through a dark, suburban area, rather than turning back to the city where he picked her up.

After turning on a dead end road, he stabbed Williams fifteen(!) times with a screwdriver. During the attack Williams was able to hit Stephani across the head with a glass bottle, causing cuts to his face and head.
Williams’ screams drew the attention of a man who lived nearby. When he saw Stephani attacking Williams, he began to wrestle Stephani, causing him to flee the scene. The man was able to call an ambulance and later help identify Stephani.

Upon returning home to his apartment, Stephani saw he was bleeding pretty badly and sought medical help himself. -- It was this call that confirmed Stephani was the weepy voiced killer.

After further investigation police also linked him to the murder of Barbara Simons. Stephani was convicted of the murder of Barbara Simons, the attempted murder of Denise Williams and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. In 1997 when Stephani was diagnosed with skin cancer(having less than a year to live) he confessed to all of his crimes. The beating and attempted murder of Karen Potack, the murder of Kimberly Compton, the murder of Kathleen Greening, the murder of Barbara Simons and the attempted murder of Denise Williams.

He died in 1998 in prison of cancer, after only 16 years in prison.
