Since i have a really fucked up heart, it's kind of hard for something as simple as a book to affect me. But these books i'm going to mention managed to creep inside and do some damage (the tearful sad kind). They're not always with a sad ending, there are some with a HEA.

1/ Don't be afraid by C.A Harms

books and novel to read image

Ignore that title and be very very afraid, afraid you’ll wake your partner in the night from sobbing, afraid the next morning when you look in the mirror and a scarecrow looks better!! The ‘Prologue’ sets you up on a collision course of soggy tissues, think you’ve cried before over factional characters think again!! I am not a crier in life generally so when an author comes along and rips my heart out and tears it to shreds you know it’s going to destroy you, nothing and I mean nothing prepared me for this story.

alone, black and white, and breaking image

Reading the ‘Prologue’ we find out that Patrick’s body is being overtaken by that killer disease we call cancer, no cure, the day he finds out it’s moving through this body rapidly is also the day he finds out from his wife that he’s going to be a father. But the odds are against him, he only has a short time to live.

At this point it’s hard to carry on reading you know the outcome is going to be heartbreaking.
This had all the feels, angst, heartbreak, love, such an emotional journey that put me through the wringer, I can't convey into words with how much I loved this book, definitely an author I will be keeping an eye on.

2/ When time stood still by K.S. Adkins

Drum... Sigh & Time.. Heart melting!

Definitely a Must read!!!

This book has me seeing life in a whole new light!

KS took something that had such an ugliness to it and made it so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.

If you're looking for a book that will absorb into your soul this is a definite must read

3/ Midnight Valentine by J.T. Geissinger

Books like this is a main reason I love reading.

There are books and there are Books. This one was The Book.

A perfect (and sometimes even weird) mix of pain and grief, but at the same time humor and light.
Beautifully written. Deep, raw, sincere, tragic, happy – real.

I floved this woman. MY kind of a heroine. Strong, sassy, sarcastic, but also vulnerable, kind and feminine.

I can't really tell you the story without spoiling it so you should go check it out.

4/ Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

amor, blue, and book image

It seems like i can't stop mentioning this book whenever i go because it's just that good and an absolute favorite of mine.

It's been a long time since I've fallen wholeheartedly in love with a book, its characters, and its love story. I adored this heartbreakingly emotional story. It made me laugh, it made cry, and it made me believe in young love. I loved the heroine, Sky. She's one of the best female YA leads I've read to date. As for the hero, Holder, he simple stole my heart. I can't begin to tell you how much his wonderfully written character affected me.

5/ When it rains by Lisa De Jong

Why do the most beautiful stories have to be so sad???

This book thought my heart was some clothing item to wash, to soak in soap and water then to wring it so hard and hang it raw to dry.

There are just so many things to learn in this book. It’s basically a practical guide on how to live your life despite the most bitter or painful experience you may have experienced.

I realize the key to living is getting past the things I can’t change and putting my energy into the things I can

It’s also a story laying out to us the truth about true love and its difference with the concept of soulmates. It talks about finding peace and salvation in a stranger. It’s about a story of how someone could cause you so much pain but be the same person to make you whole again.

This book also stores one of the most beautiful, non-annoying and non-cliche-ish love triangles I have read. Finally, fear not. The story ends in a beautifully inspirational and unforgettable note that will console and mend your broken heart.
