Welcome back to my articles! If you are new please kindly check out my account and collections! Today I am going to share my experience of being medical student for one year and how I choose medical school and basically stuff that related to college/univ.

WHY AND HOW I CHOOSE MEDICAL SCHOOL?
You know, when you ask children "what are you wanna be when you grow up?" there's must've been some child that answer doctor, and one of them was me. But growing up, many people change their mind to be something else, I never actually change my mind because I always tell myself and other people that being doctor is one of my goals in life and that's why I work hard, even sometimes ,people underestimate me but you know what if you wanna be something and work hard all the work you put into will never disappoint you.

Another things to consider when choosing college subject / univ faculty is the future job you gonna have and what are you gonna do, never pick a degree just bcs your best friends in the same class/faculty because IT'S YOUR FUTURE. Always study what you like and enjoy, medical school is a long journey and you have to have that motivation to keep you going.

FIRST YEAR OF MEDICAL SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
So I got accepted in one of the best university in my country, and I kinda shook bcs when the test held I cannot answer many questions and I'm like what if I have to be in gap year? But, I got accepted and very happy about it.

ORAL EXAM
So my university is using PBL / Problem Based Learning which divide us into little groups and we have to discuss cases about our patient's health problem and have to solve them in one week and also understand like physiology, anatomy, pathophysiology and all that kind of not so amazing stuff. And at the end of the semester we have our finals which one of that is we have to study like for example we discussed 12 cases, and on the day of the test ,we picked one card that just randomly pick on of that cases and you have to write the material for 30 minutes on the flipchart and present them in front of usually two doctors for 20 minutes and boom you get your score from the material you write, how you explain it in front of them, and how you manage time and how you act in front of doctors.

PRACTICAL EXAM
We have two laboratories class in one week. One of them is skills which just like how to make incision, anamnesis, how to stitch wound or whatever you do to your patients. And the other one is act, in this lab we just usually like doing practical things too but not to the patients so like microscope, seeing cadaver ,and etc.

So for the skills lab we have one exam consist of like many stage my last practical exam is 14 stage and each stage we have 10 minutes so if we have to to anamnesis , we have to finished it for 8 minutes because we have to read the questions/instructions and move too.

For the lab act, the exam is on paper with lecture subjects.

LECTURE
In my last semester, we had two days of lecture, one is about the system we currently studying and this is related to the cases we study. The exam is usually 200 questions in multiple choices but this is freakin hard bcs the doctor just so random like it can be from their powerpoint, journal, books or idk where that questions came from and also the lab act materials.

We also have lecture for etiquette of doctor to patients and public health, the exam of two of these is multiple choices usually 50 questions. But as we learn more like in second year there some added materials that idk what :) like epidemiology of diseases and etc.

So that's all I have for today, hope you enjoy this article and it kinda inspires you if you want to go to med school and I know every med school is different so yeah idk what is going on to the med school you want to get into. And this is just my experience, may be different for other people and don't forget to do some research of the med school you want and if you have high school seniors that go there you can definitely ask them what it's like and their education system. Thank you so much for reading ! It means so much for me ๐Ÿ’•See you next time!
