Hello, amazing Hearters! Happy Monday! So I know Mondays can kind of be the worst. It’s the beginning of a new week and we have to get up early, go to work, face life and adult and it’s just tiring and, quite frankly, really really annoying. But, Mondays don’t always have to be like that. I mean, you know what you can make out of Monday? MON:DAY. See what I did there? I know, cheesy, but it can help sometimes.

As some of you know, I created a project a while ago called #TheSmileProject. And I thought what better time to kind of bring it back than now? I’m not going to lie, I’ve struggled with the aspect of positivity and it has left me feeling like I can’t do much for #TheSmileProject, but I’ve realized that mentality is precisely the reason why I should continue to fight for it.

Life is going to get crazy. We’re going to go through so many things we don’t expect. And boy have I had a lot of those cards handed to me within the past few months. And it’s hard. It’s so hard. I’ve been left feeling heartbroken, betrayed, hurt, angry, unforgiving, and so many other emotions. Those emotions, they are exactly the reason why I started this project to begin with. And, honestly, I’m kind of embarrassed it has taken me this long to actually get it together and realize how important feeling these emotions can help make the project thrive!

So, I’m going to explain a few things:

1. What #TheSmileProject is

2. What a smile means to me

3. How you can help

What is #TheSmileProject?

#TheSmileProject is a movement created to show how powerful a kind word and smile can truly be. Haven’t you noticed that when someone smiles at you, you end up smiling as well? Then when you smile at someone, they smile, and the chain continues.

In middle school, my teachers always played those value commercials, like the pass it on ones. If there’s two that best represents what I mean, it’s these ones:

A simple action, a kind word, even a smile, they can create amazing domino effects! Imagine if we all did this to everyone we passed. We could start some sort of revolution.

What a smile means to me

I am a person who smiles a lot. Like a lot. Honestly, smiling is so good for you. Not only do you look great, but you feel great, too. Especially if it’s the real deal. I have learned so much over the past few months about the power of a smile not only when it comes to others, but when it comes to me, as well.

I told you I’ve been through quite a bit recently. And while a lot of it sucks, I’ve learned to smile through a lot of it. True positivity is smiling through the tough times no matter how hurt you are. I recently got some pretty crushing news that has kind of knocked me over a bit. It wasn’t in my personal plan of things happening within the next two years. And it’s actually putting me on a bit of a detour. It wasn’t until yesterday had I been able to talk about the situation without crying. I regained a lot of clarity on the situation and I’ve started to look at alternatives and at this new life moment in a new light.

By the end of the day, I was smiling. I was powering through the news and figuring out plans with my parents and I felt this weight lifted off my shoulders. With this situation, it isn’t entirely a “this can’t happen” kind of thing. But knowing that I have a back-up plan is amazing to me because I never considered having one in the first place.

So, the question: What does a smile mean to me? It means acting a positive way, choosing to be happy despite the circumstances and showing the world that they can’t shake you. That’s what having a smile means to me. I am wearing this smile with power and while I am still crushed and heartbroken and anxious, I am deciding that even if I don’t have things go my way, at least I can put on a smile, roll up my sleeves, and keep on going.

How you can help

By starters, supporting #TheSmileProject. That doesn’t mean joining the team exactly, you can just support by liking the articles, passing on kind words, and showing the world your smile.

If you do want to join, however, go to the website http://huntkaym.wixsite.com/thesmileproject or email thesmileproject.positivity@gmail.com saying you want to join, what positivity means to you, and how you want to help. I would love for you to join the team!

Guys, we can do anything we put our minds to. And with how crazy our world is, we can make some sort of change with something as simple as this. I know it!

That’s all I have for you today, my friends. Like always, I hope you have an amazing rest of your day and week. Remember to keep smiling. You never know who will need it.
