i've always loved reading when i was little but i kind of grew tired of it, however since 2018 i started to read again and i decided to talk about my favourite books ! ♡

a darker shade of magic trilogy by v.e. schwab

“the people fed on the magic and the magic fed on them until it ate their bodies and their minds and then their souls”

these books hold a very special place in my heart because they are the reason why i started reading again after i've lost all interest in books. all three books are equally as interesting but i must say conjuring of light, the last book in the trilogy, has to be my favourite. i enjoyed them because they had everything i look for in a fantasy book ; magic, power, badass women, sexually diverse characters, and an interesting storyline that never failed to surprise me.

girls of paper and fire by natasha ngan

“instead of disappearing, she makes me feel reappeared. reimagined. her touch shapes me, draws out the boldness that had been hiding in my core.”

this book was the first one i read in 2019 and i love it so much. i'm really attracted to stories about royalty and power so this was just what i was looking for (+ there is lesbian romance so this is so up my alley). the main character is really interesting because, even though she is at the center of the story, she is deeply flawed and has really human emotions and reactions. the storyline and the minor characters have so much depth and are truly well developed.

the song of achilles by madeline miller

“that is - your friend?" "philtatos," achilles replied, sharply. most beloved.”

this retelling has to be the best one i've ever read. while reading i simply forgot about my life and lived what patroclus and achilles were living, i cried when they were sad and smiled when they were happy. there were zero dull moments and i never wanted to leave this book to do something else because i wanted to continue to live this adventure with them and witness their mutual loyalty and passion. their love really warmed my heart while destroying it in tiny pieces, but it was SO worth it.
