Hi, Alice here!
In September most of us start school, so I want to tell you, especially freshman, what you should do before 1st September. Here I'll share with you some tips and advises and also tell you a bit about school life in high school (I'm the senior year). I know there might be differences since each country has its education system, but still, I hope it will help you somehow.
Let's begin!

Let's be honest nobody wants to study from all black and white notes. Get yourself pretty stick notes with different patterns, colors, and sizes. Same with pens, pencils, notebooks, highlighters. If you want and can, you can decorate them by yourself! On YouTube, Pinterest, and WeHeartIt you can find a lot of tutorials that will help you!
Using colors is quite important. The colors catch your eye and tell you something is important, a 'must remember'. But don't highlight the whole book! Only a few sentences. And also choose what each color will be highlighting. For example:
Blue โ important names, places, dates;
Green โ titles of the books and their authors;
Yellow โ very important information;
Pink โ homework

I don't know how many times I hated the fact that I wasn't using this little guy since the first year. It's helping a lot. Everything is in one place, looks aesthetic and is more practical than notebooks (at least for me). You can either write or print your notes and then easily take them off if you need them. Also, more notes will be able to fit in there than in the notebook.

Listening to the teacher is the best way to learn new things. Don't even think about talking, looking through the window and drawing in your notebook. Don't do it to yourself. I know it's hard sometimes to focus but do your best to do so.

And again, I know it's hard sometimes, but you're learning while doing it. The time you spent over it is never wasted. Also, the teachers will like you and be more likely to give you higher grade at the end of the year lol.

Do I have to say anything more?

And I mean it. Don't stay is such a relation, it's not worth it. I was in it for almost 2 years, and when I finally cut off these 'friends' I felt good and powerful. They were disrespecting me all the time and telling me I'm weird because I hate parties and don't like getting drunk. So I left. And now I'm feeling fantastic, baby.
My younger friend is having a problem that she might meet people who will want her to drink, smoke, etc. and she won't be able to say 'no'. Because she wants to fit. Say 'no' with your whole chest to such a 'friends'. They don't want to befriend you, rather bring you down.

I don't know how it looks in your country, but in mine, we have something that's called an open day in schools. This is the time when younger can talk to its pupils, see the classrooms, take part in special competitions or experiments we have prepared for them. Usually, there is also some snack, drinks, quizzes, plays, and other things like this. If you have something like this, please go there and see what it's like in there.
To all future high schoolers, this is for you.
I'm the senior year in high school, law profiled. It means nothing in the first year โ it's not much different from middle school, I'd say it's pretty easy, although there's a lot of work. In the second class, the real mess starts. You don't have subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, and a few more classes you had before. There are only 9 subjects for law profiled class โ history, social studies, English, German, Polish, math, science, homeroom hour and religion (but it's not compulsory). We usually start classes at 8 a.m. and end them at 2.15 p.m. The second-year is harder because it's nothing you're used to. There's much more studying and projects than ever. It's the hardest part, so don't blame yourself if you weren't the best student in the class. It's not easy to achieve this. You gonna study till midnight, 1 a.m. sometimes. Teachers want you to know everything that has been said in the class. Expect unexpected.
But no worries, you're going to get used to it, you just need time. After a few months, you'll find how to manage time, so you can always be prepared for your classes. Don't be sad or angry, if you get bad grades. It's normal, almost everyone at the beginning is failing most of the tests and other important stuff.
Learning in your home is important, too, but please be sure to always be in school. Don't skip lessons. Does your throat ache? Not for the last time, sweety, so take medicine and go to school. Stay home only if you're seriously ill and take notes from people, who write down every single word that the teacher says. It'll be very helpful.

Okay, this is all for today! I hope some of my advice will help you with becoming a better student. I've already written some articles about the school, so I'm gonna share here two of them:
