To get the healthy hair you need to be eating the right kinds of foods. You should start adding in some fruits and vegetables into your diet and drinking a lot of water. If you don't like eating vegetables then you can always make a smoothie or juice them.

Take Your Vitamins

Adding a daily supplement into your diet will help your hair get whatever nutrients it's lacking. (Supplements can be expensive. A good alternative is to get the gummy vitamins but make to read the label to check the ingredients.)

Be Careful W/ Heat

Using too much heat can cause damage to your hair. It can lead to dry brittle hair, breakage, and split ends. You don't have to get rid of it for good, instead, use it in moderation like once a week or for special occasions. Make sure to always use a heat protectant.

Wash Your Hair

You need to clean your hair at least one to two times a week to get all the dirt off. A scalp that has a built-up from all the hair products we use and clog your hair follicles and slow down hair growth.

Use Your FIngertips When Washing

Using your fingertips to work the shampoo in your scalp can give you a massage to stimulate the hair follicles. If you want to try massaging your hair with your head tipped over but try not to get shampoo in your eyes.

Use a Sulfate-Free Shampoo

A lot of shampoos can have a lot of damaging chemicals in the ingredients that can make your hair dry. Instead, try a moisturizing shampoo that is sulfates free to gently cleanse the hair. ( I usually get my shampoo from the target, they have a great selection of sulfate-free shampoos.)

Use a Hair Mask Once a Week

Once a week you should be doing a hair mask to help bring moisture back into your hair. There are different types of hair mask for each type of hair. You have to find one that works best for your hair.

Don't Over Condition Your Hair

Conditioning your hair overnight with coconut oil is popular but it's not necessary because it can make your hair feel greasy and weighed down by the oils. Only leave it in for the amount of time it is recommended.

Gently Detangle Your Hair

Hair when wet can be very fragile so make sure when you are detangling it you use a wide-tooth comb with detangling spray. I wait till my hair is 90 percent dry to detangle my hair that way there is less damage.

Moisturize Your Hair When It's Damp

Applying product to your hair when it's damp is the most effective way to keep moisture in your hair. I love applying a split end remedy to the tips of my hair and hair oil to help keep it soft. ( HASK has some good hair oils if you are looking for something cheaper.)

Get Trims

I know we all hate getting our hair cut but it's important to get regular hair trims every 3 months to get all those dead ends off to help your hair grow and to look healthier. If you don't get trims then those split ends will keep breaking which can cause your hair to look and feel dry.

Wear Protective Hair Styles

Wearing your hair in a protective hairstyle can help cause less breakage to your hair because it's protecting it from the wind, heat, etc. In the long run, this will keep your hair healthy and help it grow longer.

Protect Your Hair at Night

To keep your hair moisturized and less breakage you should be sleeping on a silk pillowcase or wrapping your hair in a silk scarf or bonnet. You can also sleep with a protective hairstyle such as a loose braid or loose bun. Make sure to use scrunches to secure your hair.

Massage Your Scalp

Every night before you go to bed flip your head upside side and massage your scalp with your fingertips or a brush to help stimulate the hair follicles for a couple of minutes. Not only will this feel good but it will help your hair grow faster.

Be Patient

Unfortunately your hair will not grow long overnight. Hair only grows half an inch every month but treating your hair right will help it keep it healthy for it to grow. If you are getting sad about your hair not being long then just think a year from now it will be longer.
