Today, I wanted to make a point to talk about climate change. I don't know how many people will read or see this, but I do want to talk about it. And not about the gory details of how the ice will melt, storms will get stronger, and we'll all be uncomfortable with our lives.

I want to talk about how Climate Change makes me feel. So many describe the feeling as anger, but for me, it has been one of gloominess.

Scrolling down feeds seeing various articles recommended to me about how the Earth is dying or how the ice melting is... depressing. Facts, reality, can seem depressing.

One thing I've learned though, is that sitting in the pessimism, that misery, doesn't change a thing. It doesn't bring back what the Earth has lost, what we might lose. What does change something, though, is thinking. As simple as it sounds, we need to think about this prospect.

If a team of Engineers need to solve a daunting problem, they won't start spewing thoughts about "we are all going to die" or " we might as well give up." That's not to say that feeling depressed about Climate Change isn't validated, because it is, especially in our world. But that's to say that in the simplest terms, persistence is the solution.

quotes, keep going, and inspiration image

Don't stop. Don't stop trying to use eco-friendly products. Don't stop eating environmentally-friendly foods. Don't stop talking about Climate Change. Don't stop avoiding plastic. Don't stop recycling. Don't stop doing your best.

One last point I want to make is that you have to try your best. You can't put that burden on yourself to want to control how everyone acts or doesn't act to minimize their carbon footprint. You can't carry Mother Earth's burden of the acts of 8 billion people. And maybe it's true that Mother Earth shouldn't have to carry that burden, either. But giving up, wallowing in pessimism won't stop it. People always make this point about how humans are the worst, creatures of evil because of what we've done to the Earth.

That in itself can be depressing, but can I say something? Everything is not black and white. Some humans were not in those positions of power to make decisions for everyone about the Climate and such. Humans aren't capable of perfection, nor solving every problem, but we are capable of optimism.

And though, optimism is underrated, it's the reason people keep going. Because even if it's microscopic, there is still hope there. There is still hope there. Listen to my words, I said HOPE, not PERFECTION. I said HOPE, not A LIFE WITHOUT STRUGGLE. I don't know about you guys, but I'll still have hope and I hope you'll have hope with me.
