Hello fellow heaters and writers!
Lately, I have been in the mood to set myself some goals: I decided to go vegetarian since the beginning of July, I had to finish the first four chapters of a story I am currently working on, and now I want to have new deadlines to follow.
I've been seeing a lot of these "x days writing challenge" going around on we heart it. If you check out my challenges i want to try collection, you will see that I've been wanting to participate to one of these challenges for a while.
But the problem I have been having is that few of these challenges actually tell you to write a story. Most of them just say "write a list of the things you want to do" or have similar prompts.
That's why I have decided to create my own writing challenge!
prompts!
- day one | describe your favourite colour
- day two | write about your day, but make it poetic
- day three | rewrite a popular children bedtime story, but make it dark
- day four | write a poem about the first thing that crosses your mind
- day five | an opening paragraph, in medias res
in medias res is a latin expression that literally means "in the middle of things" - which means that you should start your story without an introduction.
- day six | describe your favourite place
- day seven | the death of a character
- day eight | "you are writing, you are losing yourself in a sea of words but suddenly..."
- day nine | write a short story with a second person POV
- day ten | put your playlist on shuffle, play it and describe in few words how the first song that comes up makes you feel
- day eleven | describe a character's bedroom
- day twelve | describe how it feels to eat a food of choice [it can be your favourite, it can be your least favourite or it can be whatever you have in the fridge]
- day thirteen | write a story starting from the last picture you hearted [or just a picture you like, it's up to you!]
- day fourteen | what would you do if you just left everything and could just go away?
- day fifteen | write a kissing scene
why 15 days?
Half a month, not too long yet not too short. These prompts can also be "used" every other day, which would make this challenge last a whole month.
