Okay, okay. So there will always be a soft spot in my heart for YA fantasy books. Christopher Paolini and Sarah J. Maas are truly incredible-but it's time to up your reading game.

Here are some of my favorite adult fantasy novels/series to start your journey into the adult section. They're so good they'll make the transition easy. You'll wonder why you stopped your browsing after those one or two aisles of YA reads.

1. The Rook by O'Malley

Myfanwy wakes up in a park, surrouned by bodies, with no idea who she is. She apparently belongs to a secret government organization that protects Great Britain from supernatural threats, and has to figure out why she was targeted by an assassin-and how they failed to kill her.

2. A Darker Shade of Magic by Schwab

Four different Londons: Red, Grey, White, and Black. Kell can walk between them, and serves as an ambassador for Red London.

3. Strange Practice by Shaw

A doctor to the living, the dead..the UNdead. Greta, a human, serves the supernatural population of London.

4. Spinning Silver by Novik

Mireym can turn silver into gold, but faces a foe beyond her powers in the King of the Forest.
