Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year. And it is officially less than 100 days away! Now that it is slowly getting closer to fall, I'm excited to begin celebrating in full force.

Here is a list of 10 Halloween movies to watch before October 31st.

I decided not to include Horror films because that could be its own entire list.

1. Halloween Town

If you ask someone what their favourite Halloween movie is, there is a very good chance that they will say Halloweentown. It's also where I got the title for my Halloween collection on weheartit.

Halloweentown (1998) is definitely an essential for spooky season. Feel free to watch all 3 (for the sake of all that is spooky let's pretend the 4th movie doesn't exist). But it if you're only going to watch one, it HAS to be the first. The movie follows Marnie upon discovering that she is a witch. Not only is it an iconic Halloween movie, but it's also just a great feel-good movie.

2. Monster House

If you're in the mood for something spooky, but you aren't a big fan of horror films. Monster House is a must watch

If you've never seen Monster House (2006) get on that! This animated film follows 3 neighborhood kids and their battle against the haunted house on their street on Halloween night.

3. Practical Magic

Practical Magic (1998) features two sisters (played by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman), who are also witches. That get into trouble when it comes to love.

Practical Magic, although it does not take place on Halloween, features many of the elements of a good Halloween movie. If you haven't seen it, add it to your list for this upcoming Halloween.

4. Sleepy Hollow

Ever heard of the Headless Horseman?
This list could probably be filled with Tim Burton movies. But I wanted to include one of his movies that probably don't get as much watch time during 'Spooky Season'.

Sleepy Hollow (1999) takes place in a town by the same name. And it features Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane solving the mystery of the Headless Horseman. Not only does this movie have a great Halloween premise it also takes place during the fall, which for me is always a huge bonus.

5. Paranorman

This is the first but not the last Laika studio film that will be on this list.

Paranorman (2012) is about a kid that -- for a lack of better terminology -- can see dead people. In my opinion, this movie should be just as talked about as Coraline as they have similar atmospheres; and are both quintessential Halloween Movies

6. Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus (1993) is one of the most iconic Halloween movies.

I'm going to spend less time on Hocus Pocus because I'm sure most of you have seen it but it is a must-watch.

7. The Adams Family

I don't know about you but my relationship goals are definitely Mortica and Gomez Addams

If you haven't seen The Addams Family (1991), I recommend you add it to your watch list ASAP. Once again, a very well-known film. It follows an eccentric family that truly embody the spirit of Halloween all year round.

8. Coraline

Although technically this movie has very little to do with Halloween. It has become a Halloween staple for many.

The second Laika studio movie on this list, Coraline (2009), features a girl who explores a parallel world. It features beautiful animation with vibrant colours. And for some can seem a bit unsettling.

Definitely, my favorite movie featured on this list.

9. The Nightmare Before Christmas

As another Tim Burton picture. The Nightmare Before Christmas (2007) straddles the intersection between Halloween movie and Christmas movie.

The movie begins on the day of Halloween and features the citizens of Halloween. Definitely one of the more popular Halloween movies on this list, and definitely a must-watch.

10. Beetlejuice

Another Tim Burton directed film, Beetlejuice (1988) features the plight of a recently deceased couple as they try to scare a new family out of their house.

Featuring iconic actors like Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, and Alec Baldwin. Beetlejuice can get anyone in the mood for Halloween.
