Hiya!

Whilst the UK receives a mini heatwave I am of course inspired to write an article about back to school. I know, I know... most British students have only just finished for the summer holidays but hopefully this will be relevant or interesting to some others of you.

1. What year are you going into?

Temporarily removed
I'm going to be going into Year 12 which is the penultimate year before university in the UK and the first of sixth form/college. According to the internet this is Grade 11 or Junior Year in the US.

2. What are you excited/nervous for this year?

b & w, change, and exercise image
I'm excited to start my A levels but nervous because they're supposedly quite a lot harder and different to the GCSEs which I've just completed. Y12 is also the year when I start looking at careers, work expericence, university open days and applications, EPQs etc which is scary but also exciting because there are lots of opportunities for me to do whatever I want.

3. What's your favourite part about getting ready for back to school?

study, school, and college image
Getting organised and prepared so I can go in there feeling like a queen.

4. What year were you in when you first started wearing makeup?

bag, chanel, and home image
I started wearing mascara in Year 10 (Grade 9/Freshman) and now also wear a bit of concealer and eyeshadow.

5. Where do you get inspiration from?

book, socks, and coffee image
Social media, TV shows, books, people watching and daydreaming.

6. What subjects are you studying?

Inspiring Image on We Heart It
I'm taking biology, chemistry, physics and English literature at school but I also take online courses which are currently neuroscience, human rights, anatomy and physiology, Spanish and Russian.

7. What are your favourite subjects?

study, biology, and notes image
Biology, physics and French but any core subjects (English lang, English lit, maths, additional maths, triple science) or languages really.

8. What are your least favourite subjects?

athletics, sport, and lové image
PE and music (I'm better at art)

9. What kind of bag do you use for school?

adventure, freedom, and russia image
This year I'm not sure yet but previous years I have used rucksacks or a satchel. I might use a sort of tote bag this year so I have room for my binders and notebooks.

10. What are 3 non-beauty essentials you have in your bag?

Inspiring Image on We Heart It
A water bottle, snacks and a spare notebook in case I forget an exercise book or need it for homework. Others usually are my phone/tablet, earphones, planner, library book, hand warmers and hand sanitiser.

11. What are 3 beauty essentials you carry in your bag?

rustic wedding, rustic bridal shower, and ranch wedding image
Lip balm, hair bands and concealer.

12. What do you wear?

I had a school uniform and now just have to be dressed in a smart business suit. I will wear a blazer, pale blouse, skirt, black tights and black ballet flats. If I can find a nice jumper that adheres to the rules then I may wear that too.

13. Have you ever ditched or skipped classes?

grunge, high school, and brunettes image
Not on purpose but I have missed a lot of school for health reasons.

14. Have you ever been in detention and why?

teen wolf, dylan o'brien, and funny image
It wasn't really a detention but the whole class was called back at lunch to be told off because some of them been throwing shoes around the class room while the teacher was elsewhere. She let most of us go pretty soon after that but kept others to write a few short lines for about 5 minutes.

15. Composition book or notebook?

beige, books, and college image
Still don't know what a composition book is or if it's an American term so I'll stick with a notebook.

16. Pens or pencils?

Pens! Unless I'm in art or doing an art-related activity.

17. Folders or binders?

school, college, and study image
Binders with dividers otherwise I can never find anything.

18. Sticky notes or note cards?

sticky notes and notes image
Sticky notes for annotating my class notes at home or for making corrections. Note cards for flipping through or testing myself without needing my books so they're easier to access. I do tend to just use a notebook and add bits around it or use a blank page to test myself on a topic.

19. Need calculator or already knows the answer?

funny, HAHAHA, and lol image
In some of the STEM subjects you're going to need a calculator become the formulas are complicated and don't equal integers. I may be able to do it easily without but I'm also not going to risk making silly mistakes or taking longer in tests. This is why we have calculator and non-calculator papers to test both areas.

20. Planner or unorganised?

drink, book, and do image
I'm definitely a planner.

21. Study or wing it?

study, school, and notes image
I go to a competitive school and hate knowing I didn't do my best so I always try and study.

22. Homework done night before or morning of?

motivation, organized, and study image
Hopefully usually before either of those. I try and do homework at school during my free periods or private study sessions as there are more resources available and it frees up my time in the evenings and weekends. If not, when I get home in order of priority.

23. Highlighters or no highlighters?

Temporarily removed
Sometimes but only the really important bits and usually to create a box around it. I prefer to use coloured pens in my notes in the first place.

24. Smart or stupid as ever?

quotes, beautiful, and inspire image
Smart in most things but also very hardworking to get like that.

25. Like or hate school?

funny, text, and message image
Love school and learning new shit and messing about with friends on the sunny days outside and acing tests and all that heart-warming stuff.

26. Do you do any extra-curricular activities at school?

Image removed
I used to do choir but I dropped that, I have been on the set team for school performances and I want to join some of the committees/societies in my school this year. I also do volunteering outside of school.

27. What is your best advice?

grunge, motivate, and motivation image
Don't ever do so little of what you're capable that you feel guilty for not doing your best. If you know that you worked as hard as you could, did as much prep as you could and you still get a bad score, it hurts less because you don't have anything to regret and it's not your fault because in that moment in time you did your very best and you can't nor anybody else ask anything more from yourself than that. If you do your best and it still doesn't work out, it wasn't meant to be and you'll know that - you won't have all of these what ifs and you'll be able to move on easier and be more confident in everything that you do. Nobody wants to fail but it's a stepping stone of life and it makes it easier if you know that you did all that you could do. So just do that: do your best. Do your best at that time and move on. And you are amazing and just as pretty or as smart or as cool as anyone else. If you need help talk to someone, humans aren't made to be alone.

Feel free to message me to chat or ask/submit questions.

Have a lovely summer!!!!!! Or winter if you're in Australia.

XOXO
