there is something about her
that feels so strange and new.
everything else slows to a blur,
her aura threatening to pull me through.

her eyes snap to mine with fire within
my throat dries and my heart pounds.
as if she knew what she did to me, her lips form a grin
and begins to whisper sweet sounds.

my brain grows fuzzy and slow
as if intoxicated or full of cotton.
deep down I get it, I know,
but I ignore it and act as if I've forgotten.

time passes, she leads me every which way
her kindness and beauty dragging me around the bend.
alone together in the grass we lay,
and I understand that I don't want to be just her friend.
