alone, behind, and cold image

Recently I made the President's List at my university.
My school has around 10K students. With the knowledge that around 700-900 students made the president's list, that is less than 10 percent of the entire school.

I just recently came back from visiting my father, who felt the need to tell me that it really is no big deal to be on that list. He also said my school must be easy if I made the President's List.

For those that may not know, the President's List is an official list from the university/college that holds the names of students that earned a 4.0 GPA.

Now knowing this, you can probably see why I was so annoyed when he said that it must be easy. I was also angry because he did not even graduate college. He went for a little over 3 years and then dropped out.

Why did he drop out, none of you are probably asking: He uses one of his infamous lies, his parents (my grandparents) would not pay for his fare to get there.

First of all, my grandparents would do anything to help him succeed because that is the way that they are. My grandma is no longer alive, but even being around her for the first 16 years of my life, I have seen compassion and selflessness that not many people exhibit. She definitely would have given him money. My grandfather, who I visit now, would have given him any amount of money to be successful throughout his collegiate career.

To be told that it was easy to receive a 4.0 GPA is absurd and quite frankly, disgusting that he is that jealous of my success. I'm not a parent so I cannot speak on behalf of all parents, but I can speak as a daughter. As a daughter I can only say this: DO NOT MAKE YOUR CHILD'S SUCCESS ANYTHING LESS THAN THAT (A SUCCESS). STOP BEING JEALOUS OF YOUR CHILD(REN). YOU SHOULD WANT YOUR CHILD(REN) TO BE MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN YOU THROUGHOUT THEIR LIFETIME(S)!!!

That's all.

peace xx
