Just like our skin our hair also need to be protected from the sun.
Summer sun can be really harmful not only for our hair but also for our scalp. It can cause dryness and sunburn. And as tempting as it might be then - you really shouldn't wash your hair everyday. Over conditioning and over treating is a big mistake, but keep in mind that not washing sweaty hair for a long time can also be harmfum and increase hair fall.

Our hair can be harmed by many things in the summer - overexposure to sun’s harmful rays, sweat, humidity and of course spending too much time swimming.

All this things may lead to a long-term demage and bad hair day, but no worries! Your hair need just a little care to stay healthy and beautiful.

➥ 1. AVOID TOO MANY COSMETICS

Summer air and sun already dries out your hair and cause demage to them, that's why you should avoid chemical hair treatments and too much coloring during this period of time.
If you want to change the color of your hair for the summer or just color your roots - it's best to do it a month or two before the sun hits hard.

Do not wash your hair every day.
No matter how tempted you might be to do so, washing your hair daily will only cause more harm.

Split ends and dry tips don't look good and aren't healthy for your hair. And summer break is a great time for a new hairdo! But if you like yours and don't want to change it and shorten your hair - go with the small trim that will take care of the ends and bring back life to your hair.

Try to avoid the additional heat from blow dryer, styling iron and curlers as much as you can - since summer sun is already putting so much heat on your hair.

Colored hair need a little extra care during summer - since, let's be honest, every chemical treatment demages them.
Use only products that are specially made for colored or treated hair. And if you have colored your hair recently - try not to spend too much time in the sun, especially when it’s at its peak.
If you need to go out cover them with a scarf or a hat - it will provide an extra UV protection, help your scalp to retain moisture and reduce damage caused by wind, especially if your hair is prone to tangling.

If you don't like wearing hats or scarfs, remember to use a leave-in conditioner with sunscreens.
When you plan on being in the sun for a longer time - opt for hair products that have a good amount of SPF in them.

Get a good anti-frizz oil or serum - take just a small drop of the oil or serum (more will make your hair heavy) and apply it.

If you're not drinking enough water you won't achieve anything - even if you're doing everything to proect your hair from the sun. Moisturizing yourself from the inside will save your skin and hair from the excess humidity in the air. So keep a water bottle with your all the time and STAY HYDRATED!

➥ 11. SWIMMING IN THE POOL

BEFORE:
Your hair won't be able to absorb the chemicals full of pool water if you drench them well with clean water or apply conditioner in more quantity.
Applying oil to your hair can also prevent these chemicals to bind with your hair, because as we all know - Oil never mixes with water.

AFTER:
It's best to rinse well your hair with clean water to remove the chlorinated pool. Keep a bottle or a spray bottle of fresh water with you, in case there's no shower near the pool. You'll be able to spray your hair anytime.

Eating healthy is just as important for your hair as staying hydrated.
Here are some healthy foods you should try to eat more:

- Omega-3 fatty acids: spinach, salmon, eggs.
- Greens: esspecially dark green vegetables and fruits are very good for hair. Try some broccoli as well.
- Citrus fruits: are rich in vitamin C and anti-oxidants which improve hair.
- Nutz: are good for hair because they contain zinc.
- Carrots: vitamin A will do good things too.

It's a really good idea to rinse your hair with tea. And it's really easy!
Just boil some water, add tea bags to it and let it cool for some time. Then rinse your hair with it, but wait for few minutes to let the water to penetrate hair well. The next step is to wash your hair with shampoo and then condition them.

For blonde hair choose: lemon or chamomile tea.
For brown to black hair choose: black tea.
For copper to red hairs choose: red ginger tea.

ALOE VERA AND LEMON JUICE:
Mix some fresh aloe vera pulp with a few drops of lemon juice and apply it to your hair. Wash off after 15 minutes.

EGGS:
Use egg whites for oily hair, yolks for dry hair and the whole thing for normal hair. Just remember to wash it with lukewarm water only! So you won't end up with scrambled eggs in your hair.

BANANA AND HONEY:
Mash a ripe banana into a smooth paste and add 1 table spoon of honey to it. Wash it off after 15 minutes.

STRAWBERRIES:
Mash 10 fresh strawberries and add 1 table spoon of mayonnaise to make a smooth paste. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes.

HONEY AND OLIVE OIL:
Mix 3-4 table spoons of honey with 1 table spoon of olive oil. You can also add an egg yolk to this. Wash it off after 15 minutes.

BEER:
Rinse your hair with beer after shampooing to get the shine and bounce back in your hair.

YOGURT:
Apply yogurt on your scalp and rinse off after 15 minutes.

VINEGAR:
Dilute some vinegar in water and use this as a final rinse.
