Yeah, you read it right. And if there's anyone else out there that recently had surgery, or has one on the calendar, this one's for you. Just a few things I've learned, and am still learning, in the weeks following my procedure.

In May, I had a surgery done, and my summer hasn't really gone like everyone else's. Unfortunately, no #hotgirlsummer or trips to Europe or Disney. In all honesty, recovery has been really hard.

It's been a lot like a rollercoaster of major ups and downs. Just when I've thought I've made a lot of progress healing-plot twist!-something goes wrong.

I have so many blue days. When you can't do much more than lay in bed, it becomes easy to get stuck in your head and your emotions. I'm still learning how to redirect that energy, and find simple things to do that are within my current abilities to pass the time.

Here's what I've been up to:

Reading, mainly. I love to read, so I guess that's some sort of bonus of having surgery, is that you have all the time to read.

I'm an avid reader of all things fantasy. Since my surgery, my favorite books I've read are: ~The Beast Player by Uehashi ~Stepsister by Donnelly ~Spinning Silver by Novik

Meditating. Or, should I say, TRYING to "meditate." I'm not really a 'meditating' person, but I know how true it is to have positive energy surrounding your outlook on recovery. That has a huge influence on your health, so I do my best to calm my breathing as I repeat mantras like: "I am strong, my body is healing."

This has kind of helped me to sleep-although pain keeps me awake quite often.

Learning new things! All those other times where you're like, "Man, I wish I knew more about [insert topic/hobby/interest]." Well, being bed-ridden is the perfect time to start your google search on anything that has ever interested you.

Crystals, astrology, tarot, and auras-all that cool witchy and spiritual stuff, has always interested me. So, I've spent my time learning about it. I still suck at interpreting my tarot cards, but I'm getting better!

Stretching. It's part of my healing process, so I HAVE to do it, but it's become part of my daily routine. I've never been flexible-I'm still not-but it's sort of soothing and relaxing for me now. It helps with physical therapy, too. Remember, kids, always do what your physical therapist tells you.

No, this isn't the stretching I mean, but it's a cool pic so..

Netflix and chill. Well, just the Netflix part.

I finished Lucifer, rewatched all of New Girl and Supernatural, and have had too many Harry Potter marathons. Highly recommend watching Bonding-so freaking funny.

And that's about it. A short list, I know, but that's all that I can do right now. Laying around, putting all my body's energy towards healing. It can be tough, and if anyone out there is reading this, I hope you know that I feel you, I understand you, and we will get through this.

Tomorrow I have a second procedure. I'm putting out good energy in the hopes that all goes well, and I have a speedy recovery. I hope you do, too. xx
