Hello beautiful Hearters! Today's article is a little different than my usual articles. I have a few important things I want to share with you regarding my first book and the process behind it. Hope you enjoy!

Shades of Pain

First, I wanted to make an announcement article about my new poetry collection called Shades of Pain! It's published and available on Barnes & Noble, and will soon be available on Indigo in Canada.

I also wanted to give a huge shoutout to @staraiah for being my amazing Beta Reader! Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to go through with the publication!

Find Your Style

The second thing I wanted to share was the process behind creating Shades of Pain. Before I decided to create a collection of original poetry, I tried to write novels in genres that I enjoyed reading.

I think the most important thing about writing a book is trying to write in different genres and seeing which one speaks to you. Although I love mystery/crime, I found that writing an entire novel in those genres was harder than I expected.

Dabbling in a lot of different genres helped me find the right style of writing that I was comfortable with. So, my advice would be to try writing many different novels, and see which genre is your forte. And it's okay if you feel like you can't finish a novel. Trial and error is the first sign of your honest effort.

Being Confident

"I can't imagine a person becoming a success who doesn't give this game of life everything he's got." - Walter Cronkite

Once you find a genre and you write your novel (or start to write your novel), stick with it. It's hard to feel like you'll accomplish something with the novel, but even just publishing it is a huge accomplishment.

While writing Shades of Pain, there were times when I felt like I shouldn't keep going because the content in the book was too personal and I didn't think people would like it.

But the truth is, your book will only do as well as you feel it will. Stay confident with your idea and you will accomplish great things!

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this article. Again, my book is titled Shades of Pain and the link to Barnes and Noble is available below. Let me know if you have any questions about the publication process- I'd be happy to answer.
