Hello, beautiful people! Today I'm sharing with you paintings by one
of my favorite artists: Alphonse Mucha. But first, let's get to know him a bit more♡

Alphonse Mucha was a Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist who lived in Paris during the Art Nouveau period (from 1890 to 1910). He made multiple illustrations, advertisements, decorative panels and designs that became the best known masterpieces of the period.

Mucha moved to Paris in 1887 to continue his studies and it was there where he started to work for magazines and produce advertisements for different products and plays.

On Christmas, 1894, Mucha happened to show up in a print shop where an advertising poster for a play, staring Sarah Bernhardt, was need. Mucha volunteered to produce a lithography poster within two weeks, and on January 1st, 1895, the ad for the play: Gismonda by Victorien Sardou appeared on the streets of the city; and that very poster catapulted the artist's reputation and Bernhardt, herself, had a 6 year contract with Mucha.

Most of Mucha's paintings depict beautiful and strong women, surrounded by luscious flowers and garnments. He was also known as a symbolist artist and he was inspired by mythology and nature.
Sadly, in 1939, in Prague, Mucha died due to a lung infection, at the age 78.
