Track #17 of the 1975's album "I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it", has pulled the fandom's heart strings to another level. "She Lays Down" is a heartwarming, graceful and beautifully written song in the band's second album. The instant you break down the lyrics, the meaning behind it is sufficiently pure. However, there are two perspectives the listener can have or understand in the song: The listener's own perspective, which is how someone individually interprets the words in the song. Or you can go along with the lead singer's, Matty Healy, personal meaning. Which makes you dive into a more appealing context and significance of the track.

Written and produce by Matty Healy, George Daniel, and Mike Crossey, "She Lay Down" is about the relationship between Healy and his mother, Denise Welch. He wrote this song as a result to his mother talking to him about her emotions after his birth due to her depression. Denise Welch suffered from clinical and post natal depression. Clinical depression is a more severe condition, in which the individual experiences several feelings of despondency and hopelessness. As a consequence of clinical depression, Welch experienced PND (Post Natal Depression). The causes for this conditions are unknown, however, being depressed during pregnancy could lead to PND. The depression Denise wELCH endure, weakened every zone of feelings and emotions in her mental state. “Depression robbed me of the ability to love” said Welch in an interview with Happiful Magazine. Welch explains that "When Mathew was born I had an intimidate rush of love like you except to have for your child. And when the depression set in, I lost the ability to love him. "

When Healy was about 17, his mother decided to open up about her condition. The song's name is directly connected to the story Welch told her son. When he was a couple of moths old, her mother used to lay down beside him and pray for help to gain the love for her child. "That resonated with me so much" said Healy in an interview with NME. He finds writing music to be a way of purifying himself from personal experiences that have to come out to the world.

"I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it" contains many personal stories and ideas about the events life brings to us. With "She Lays Down" we can conclude that Matty Healy knows how to transform tragical events into beautiful melodies; just like he did in another band's song "Nana" which is about her grandmother. Of course, the 1975 has many other graceful songs that own a deep and beautiful meaning. Healy has a deep love for his family and really knows how to express himself by his music.
