love, quotes, and story image

Have you ever had a crush on someone you met online? Who, unfortunately, lives several hours away? Or lives in another country? Another continent even?

Have you ever met someone on a random website/app who you just share an instantaneous connection with? Someone you can talk to so openly, even if you don't speak the same language?

Are you in love with someone you have never met in person? With someone you have never seen, touched or smelled (this is important, trust me).

And have you ever felt hopeless, thinking it might never work out? Have the people near you told you it's not real, that you can never love someone you have never met before?

Well, same sis. I started a long distance relationship with someone I met online who lived in another continent and the only way we could ever meet was if one of us buys an expensive ass ticket and travel by plane for at least 24 hrs.

It was not easy. It was not cheap. There were lots of arguments and compomises to be had.

I was never patient, but LDR really tested the limit of my patience (thankfully my boyfriend IS very patient).

There were lots of tears and sleepless nights because of the time difference.

But when we finally met that first time, the connection we had online was multiplied by tenfold, there wasn't even any awkwardness between us, no weird silences. It was like we have never been separated by an entire continent, oceans, or even the culture and language differences.

I cannot explain to you the nervousness, the excitement of knowing you're finally going to meet the most important person in your life

The first kiss.

I moved to his continent after a year and a half into our LDR. I went to a neighboring country that speaks the same language as the country he lives in. It was still a Long Distance Relationship as we were still separated by a non-existent border. But I chose to live a few hours away from him so I can live my own life and experience living on my own and at the same time learn his language and culture. But the most important thing is that we could see each other easily when we wanted. He was a car, train, or a bus ride away.

I get to wake up with him and make breakfast together on weekends

Some couple would rather get married or move-in right away, I cannot blame them. But as I was never really been on my own before, I decided to extend our burden and patience just a little bit more. It was not as hard as living in different continents and only get to see each other once or twice a year.

We are together for almost three years now. I've met his family couple of times, even went along with their family trips. I've cleaned up and re-arranged his apartment to my liking. And this coming Christmas we are planning on hosting a small party in the apartment for his friends and my friends to get together.

Distance means nothing when someone means everything

So to those people who are also currently on a long distance relationship...

Distance trully is a pain in the ass (and bank account), but think about the future.
Spending forever with the person who learned to loved you despite distance.

This, my friends, is the end goal. Forever with the person who was there, fighting with you side by side againt the distance.
