hi lovelies!

i haven't written in a long time, i'm very sorry- school has been super busy and i've just been on exams! but now everything's slowing down + i thought i'd write an article for you all.

i was thinking about writing a series of articles on we heart it relating to different moods. we all range from sad, angry and upset to happy and on top of the world- so i thought it could be fun to write articles about each emotion we all feel, why we feel it, how to feel better if it's negative + how to make the most of it if it's positive.

i'll include related playlists, quotes and more... i haven't really seen anything like this before on whi and thought it could be interesting to write about! enjoy!!

i chose to write about happiness first because this week i've been extremely happy! i've been working hard at the moment and in the process made some new friends i know i'll have for a while and we achieved some great things that we celebrated together. i always find that making new, unexpected friends makes me happy!

how to make the most of it

when you're feeling happy, feelings of excitement, gratitude and genuine contentment tend to take over.

you never want the moment to end, whether it be laughing with your friends, achieving something you've worked so hard for, or maybe it's listening to a really good song cuddled up with your pet in bed while you think 'man, i could do with more of this.'

when you're feeling happy, some ways to make the most of it include:

  • taking a photo

if the moment is right, taking a photo can really capture the awesome moment that you're in. you can look back on it and that feeling of elation washes over you again - capturing happy moments on camera is always a good idea!
  • writing it down

if your happy moment was during your day, sometimes the best option to make the most of it is to write it down in your journal. get out all the details about what happened, how you felt- describe the happy moment and you can relive it through words!
  • just smile, laugh and be present in the moment

when we're in a happy mood or moment, sometimes taking a few deep breaths and focusing on the now can help you appreciate the happy moment and be fully present with the people around you to have the best time possible!

'being more happy' is a hard thing to master.

isn't everyone's life goal happiness? isn't being happy the one thing we all wish for, the one thing we think we need to complete us?

you can't wait around for happiness to seek you out. it's something that sneaks up on you, finding its way into your best moments. happiness can show up when you've just achieved something huge or made a new friend - it's a byproduct of other things in your life. some ways to help you experience more happiness include:

gratitude
being grateful is so important if you want to be happy. by appreciating all that you have and expressing compassion towards others and yourself, you can see the beauty in more things and have more happy, grateful moments.

self-acceptance
wowow... this one's huge. it's something lots of people (me, included!) struggle with, but once you master it, it's incredible. it takes time, but try to accept yourself for all that you are.

look at yourself and understand that your heart is beating, your soul is beautiful and you are irreplaceable. because you are! accept all the thoughts and emotions that come into your head, accept your actions and work on yourself. you'll have more happiness, i promise you!

embracing new opportunities
sometimes, taking a chance on something new can result in unexpected happiness when things turn out better than you expected... i tried something new this week and made new friends!!

so sometimes if you aren't experiencing the happiness you've always longed for, try to greet new opportunities with an open mind and heart- you never know what might come out of it!

kindness
ah, kindness. this is super important. the positive, kind vibes to give to others and the environment will always be reciprocated!! when you're being kind to others, there's a very good chance they'll be kind back.

sometimes that's all it takes to form a new friendship! also, being kind to others can boost your mood and improve your confidence- when you make someone else happy, it makes you happier, too.
