Get To Know Me - #TheSparkleTeam

Introducing myself to others has never been a great talent of mine, especially online. Though I want to try my best and tell you what's important to know about me and why I would like to be a part of the team.

I was born almost 18 years ago in December in southern Germany. My name is Annika, though I rarely use it online, as it's sometimes hard to pronounce for some people. English is not my first language - it's German. Next to these I am able to speak French (I was on B1 during my last year of French classes), Italian, a bit of Japanese (still working on it), I recently started to learn Spanish & Russian. (I'd love to talk to people so I can improve!)
Though my greatest passion is drawing, I found a new hobby in WeHeartIt, when I first clicked on one of those "aesthetic" collections about a certain TV show.

Though I do not look like a very sportive person, I enjoy figure skating a lot and I'm a huge fan of the sport in general. Next to that, I also enjoy spending time with my friends either watching a show/movie and having a drink, sometimes writing though I'm not very good at it and just thinking of things I want to draw, but most of the time it just ends in a sketch I have to complete some time.

My drawings are often inspired by music and my taste in music really is unspecified. I grew up with 70s and 80s music, due to my parents listening to that kind of music. These days I also highly enjoy indie music, such as Vinyl Theatre, Foals, Sufjan Stevens, Sleeping At Last or Interpol. As I'm a big fan of Japanese culture, I also tend to listen to Japanese music and with me being a fan of rock music, too, J-Rock is a genre I highly enjoy with bands like Granrodeo and One Ok Rock being two bands I like a lot. Though I sometimes listen to J-Pop, too.

As if this wasn't enough already, I love literature. I did read the American classics, though I also love Japanese, German and Russian literature and poetry. Growing up with German literature I, of course, already read a lot of it. Through anime and some books I got to know Japanese and Russian literature. My favorite books are And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, Crime And Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, I Am A Cat by Natsume Souseki, No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai & The Poems of Chuuya Nakahara.

My plans for the future are as uncertain as what I'm going to wear tomorrow. Though drawing is what I want to do, it's hard to find something that will actually feed me and pay a rent every month. I am planning on graduating from the vocational college I'm currently attending and then maybe go to Japan for some time.

I think joining the team would be both a great opportunity for me to learn more as an artist, as I get to see a lot more styles and views of other people that I haven't seen before. Improvement is important for me as an artist, but so is being seen. Being a part of the team would give me, as someone who creates, the chance to share my work with more people. Before, I haven't been able to make a lot of friends online, neither here nor on Tumblr, where I am very active, too. This is both due to my introverted personality and maybe because my profile alone might give an impression of someone who doesn't like to talk. Being a part of the team would give me the chance to talk to more people that enjoy this website just as much as I do and maybe I will even be able to make some friends.
