1. How many books are too many books in a book series?

  • Personally, I would usually get tired of a series after 3 or 4 books hence why I could never read past the 3rd book in the harry potter series. The mortal instruments series however I loved and read all 7 books. Another one of those things that really depends on the author.

2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?

  • Cliff-hangers suck! It takes a good author to creatively use a cliff-hanger to make me want to keep reading – if it is just annoying I will accept the loss of an ending and move on.

3. Hardcopy or paperback?

I love hard copies, I will often not buy a book unless I love it, usually borrowing them from libraries or swapping until I find a good one. If I absolutely adore the book I will definitely buy it as a hardcover.

4. Favourite book?

Ink heart was my favourite book in around grade 8 or 9, I would read it over and over, fantasising about the grandma’s wonderful library. I also really enjoyed reading the mortal instruments over a few years but hated when the Netflix series came out.

5. A book you could never finish

  • I'm not going to answer this one properly but bear with me. Ive watched the book theif so many times but could never finish it because i ugly cried too much. I would love to read the book.

6. Love triangles, yes or no?

  • Love triangles are so cliché but people still read about them and enjoy them. My favourite love triangle for sure was that featured in the hunger games between Katniss, Peeta and Gale. Fyi I’m team gale all the way (insert winky tongue face)

7. A book you’re currently reading?

  • I’m currently re-reading refuge by Jackie French. It is about an island on which a group of young people from far different times and places have landed to seek refuge. Each has their own story of why they had to leave their own story and how they gather the courage to eventually return.

8. The oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)

  • The Bible? Charles Butler's Horae Biblicae - first published in English in 1797.

9. Favourite author?

  • Jackie French has been my favourite author for quite some time. I met her in my primary school years and I just love that she can write books that are fiction but also historically accurate. The characters are so believable and I can feel them but also learn about historical events and settings.

10. Buying books or borrowing books?

  • As briefly mentioned before I like to usually borrow books or pick them up cheaply at book swaps and markets before buying a good copy. Some books I will never read again so don’t buy good copies.

11. A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?

  • It was more the Netflix series again that caught peoples attention but I had read the book months before. It was an interesting but quite stressful read and I really didn’t think it warranted the controversy. Whether the motives were to make known the warning signs of suicide and how to help or just to fantasize the idea and to make money I didn’t understand the hype.

12. Bookmarks or dog-ears?

  • Dog ears for sure. I don’t understand people that don’t crack the spines or use bookmarks. It’s your book! Give it some character!

13. A book you can always reread?

  • I have re-read (and watched the movies of) Twilight, I also re-read refuge (as seen above) all the time

14. Can you read while hearing music?

  • I’d love to but no I can’t. Not even instrumental. I see people on the bus all the time with earphones in while reading a book and I just envy them... like how?

15. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

  • Even if I'm totally in love with a book I could never finish it in 1 sitting, I get hungry, I get tired, my eyes go blurry… a couple days or even a week is a good amount. Better to take it slow and actually enjoy it than to rush to the end :)
