Hello everyone! Recently I noticed how much I wanted to share about my country with as many people as possible. I thought one article wouldn't be enough to cover all the topics, so I decided to write about some of the topics separately as a challenge. You can join me as well, if you want and you could share some facts about your country, this way we all learn something :)

Name: My country's name is Saqartvelo(แƒกแƒแƒฅแƒแƒ แƒ—แƒ•แƒ”แƒšแƒ) but internationally it is known as Georgia and because of this, often is confused with USA's state Gerogia. Its capital is named Tbilisi(แƒ—แƒ‘แƒ˜แƒšแƒ˜แƒกแƒ˜)

Beginning of Saqartvelo's history

Ooh maan, i could write about Saqartvelo's history all day long. Mainly because it is so captivating with its triumphs or losses. In the begining, different tribes united in the XII century B.C. and they named the country Kolkha. Historians don't have one answer as to who are qartvelebi(georgians) or where they came from to this land. They have three main theories: first one is that we have emigrated from greece and are their descendants, second is that we are descendants of Mesopotamians, ancient sumerians and the last one is that we are the first homosapiens who've spread from Africa to the caucasus region.

Relationship with Greece might be proven by a geo-greek myth called Argonauts, depicting Saqartvelo's richness. The myth itself tells how Greek sailors decided to steal the golden fleece from Kolkha's king. The king was brutal but his daughter, Medea, who was a witch, fell in love with one of the sailors and helped him to steal this golden fleece. It is also believed that the word medicine comes from Medea, princess of Kolkha.

Tamar the great was given the title of king by her father because the king knew the dangers of having the only daughter crowned as the king. She is known as the first and the only female king in Saqartvelo's history. Despite many negative thoughts from the kingdom, reign of king Tamar is referred as Saqartvelo's golden age.

As i said earlier, I could write about Saqartvelo's history for ages, but I will stop now and let you find more about my country's tale -like-history...
Next topics will be about georgian(qartuli ;)) culture, language, literature, food, movies and more...
